Delegation of Tuyen Quang province attended the 11th UNESCO International Conference on Geoparks in Chile

On the evening of September 8, Vietnam time, a delegation of Tuyen Quang province led by Mr. Vuong Ngoc Ha, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, attended the opening ceremony of the 11th International Conference on Geoparks at the UNESCO Global Geopark Kutralkura, Chile.

Also participating in the delegation were leaders of the Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Foreign Affairs, Agriculture and Environment; leaders of the Provincial People's Committee Office, Dong Van Commune People's Committee, and Dong Van Karst Plateau Global Geopark Management Board.

The Conference was attended by more than 900 international delegates from 51 countries and territories. At the opening ceremony with the theme “From Ancestral Knowledge to a Sustainable Geopark Future”, the leaders of the Caurucaina Region and UNESCO leaders presented their speeches on the new development orientation of the Global Geopark Network towards peace and development with geoparks as the core of the future. The Conference host, UNESCO Kutralkura Global Geopark, introduced to international delegates the typical values ​​of the locality through unique traditional cultural programs.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Vuong Ngoc Ha, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, exchanged and presented souvenirs to members of the Global Geopark Network Coordination Board, representatives of some partner Geoparks of Dong Van Geopark such as Japan, France, Korea, Greece...

The Conference program will continue in the following days with main activities such as: Opening of the Geopark Fair, exhibition of the Weaving Hope initiative, Kutralkura Secret Market, thematic sessions, field surveys...
