Delegation of Tuyen Quang province attended the 11th UNESCO International Conference on Geoparks in Chile

On the evening of September 8, Vietnam time, a delegation of Tuyen Quang province led by Mr. Vuong Ngoc Ha, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, attended the opening ceremony of the 11th International Conference on Geoparks at the UNESCO Global Geopark Kutralkura, Chile.

Joining the delegation were leaders from the Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Foreign Affairs; Agriculture and Environment; leaders from the Provincial People's Committee Office, the People's Committee of Dong Van Commune, and the Management Board of the Dong Van Karst Plateau Global Geopark.

The conference was attended by over 900 international delegates from 51 countries and territories. At the opening ceremony, themed “From Ancestral Knowledge to a Sustainable Geopark Future,” leaders from the Caucasus region and UNESCO presented papers on the new development direction of the Global Geopark Network, aiming for peace and development with geoparks as the core of the future. The host of the conference, the UNESCO Kutralkura Global Geopark, showcased the unique local values ​​to the international delegates through distinctive traditional cultural performances.

At the opening ceremony, Mr. Vuong Ngoc Ha, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, exchanged views and presented commemorative gifts to members of the Global Geopark Network Coordination Board and representatives of several partner geoparks of Dong Van Geopark such as Japan, France, South Korea, Greece, etc.

The conference program will continue over the following days with main activities such as: the opening of the Geopark Fair, the exhibition of the Weaving of Hope initiative, the Kutralkura Secret Market, thematic sessions, field surveys, etc.
