Duy Tan University's mark

Duy Tan University is the only representative of Vietnam to bring 6 projects, including many outstanding research products and technology applications. The most prominent project is “Vietnamese AI Assistant for hearing-impaired people” by the ViSTAR team including students Do Minh Tung, Hoang Trung Kien and Hoang Trong Hien.

This is a system that uses artificial intelligence (AI) and computer vision to translate sign language in real time, creating a communication bridge between deaf people and society. The system allows two-way translation between text and sign language through video frames, helping to improve the communication ability of deaf people in daily life. With its practicality, usefulness and humanity, this project excellently won the overall First Prize.

Do Minh Tung, Project Team Leader, shared that when choosing to develop and implement the project “Vietnamese AI Assistant for hearing-impaired people”, the team members wanted to contribute to helping hearing-impaired people communicate easily through real-time video frames. From there, opening the door to barrier-free communication for millions of hearing-impaired people. Therefore, the team members spent a lot of time researching, working in groups and developing the system.

Also winning First Prize was the project “VIE AGV Omni Wheel Robot” of the VIE AGV Omni team, researched and developed by students Thi Ly Liem, Trinh Thanh Ly, Vo Hoai Dung, Le Nguyen Phi Truong and Le Gia Han.

The project focuses on optimizing an autonomous guided vehicle (AGV), designed to support smart logistics operations, helping to automate the transportation of materials in warehouses and industrial environments. The robot can operate continuously for 8 hours after each charge and has a load capacity of up to 300kg.

Promoting students' creativity

In addition to the two First prizes, two projects “Recognition and Control of Robot Hand Gestures using YOLOv5” and “SkyStudy learning app for children” were awarded Second prizes.

In particular, the project “Recognition and Control of Robot Hand Gestures using YOLOv5” focuses on developing a hand-shaped robot system capable of recognizing gestures through a camera combined with the YOLOv5 deep learning model, thereby controlling the robot's finger movements in real time. The application controls robots in toxic, high-temperature and dangerous environments that are difficult for humans to access.

The project “SkyStudy learning app for children” is an English vocabulary learning application for children from 6 to 12 years old. The application helps children learn English vocabulary through object recognition and correct pronunciation, creating a lively and effective learning environment.

In addition, the project “Blossoming Symphony” - “Thuy Lien Khai Hoa Camellia” was researched by students, bringing a unique tea experience, combining blue lotus, rose and jasmine, creating a caffeine-free tea product, helping to relax and support sleep. This project was awarded the Best Visualization award.

As the person who directly led the student delegation to attend the International PBL Expo 2025, Dr. Dao Anh Quang, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Environment & Natural Sciences , Duy Tan University, said that the projects of the winning students are all potential products, applying breakthrough technology into practice.

Student groups proactively grasp practical needs and actively apply artificial intelligence to products. This not only demonstrates solid professional knowledge but also shows creative thinking and effective problem-solving ability.

This is also a clear demonstration of the effectiveness of the modern training method that the school is implementing, including the Project-Based Learning model, which helps students think comprehensively, have the ability to turn ideas into highly applicable real-life products, and make a difference when participating in international academic playgrounds.
