Weather forecast for October 27, 2024: Cold front arrives in the North, heavy rain and storms in the Central region.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 6 PM on October 26th, the center of Typhoon No. 6 (Typhoon Tra Mi) was located at approximately 17 degrees North latitude; 110.9 degrees East longitude, about 307km east-northeast of Da Nang .

The strongest wind speed is level 11 (103-117 km/h), with gusts up to level 14. The forecast for the next 3 hours is that the storm will move westward at a speed of approximately 20-25 km/h.

Typhoon No. 6 is approaching the central coast, bringing very heavy and prolonged rainfall.

As of 4 PM on October 27th, the storm was moving west-southwest at approximately 15 km/h over the coastal waters of the central provinces of Vietnam, reaching level 9 with gusts up to level 11. The affected areas included the western part of the North East Sea (including the Hoang Sa archipelago), the central coastal waters, and the coastal mainland of Quang Tri and Quang Nam provinces.

Due to the influence of Typhoon No. 6, from the evening and night of October 26th to the night of October 28th, the Quang Binh - Quang Ngai area experienced heavy to very heavy rain with total rainfall generally ranging from 300-500mm, and in some localized areas exceeding 700mm. A warning is issued regarding the risk of localized heavy rainfall (>100mm/3h).

The areas of Ha Tinh, Binh Dinh and the northern Central Highlands experienced heavy rain, with localized areas receiving very heavy rain, with total rainfall generally ranging from 100-200mm, and some places exceeding 300mm.

Additionally, on October 27th, a reinforced cold front swept into the North. Temperatures across the North dropped, with the most significant drops in some provinces and cities in the Northeast and the Northern Delta.

The weather in Northern Vietnam and the Thanh Hoa - Nghe An region will be rainless at night, with some fog in the early morning, and sunny during the day; however, the plains and coastal areas of Northern Vietnam, Thanh Hoa, and Nghe An will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms from October 27th onwards; it will be cold at night and in the early morning, and freezing in mountainous areas.

Thanh Hoa - Thua Thien Hue

Cloudy skies, with scattered showers and thunderstorms in the North at night, and scattered showers and thunderstorms during the day; moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms in the South. North winds will be from the North to Northwest at force 4-5, gradually strengthening to force 6-7 in the South, reaching force 8-9 near the storm's center, with gusts up to force 12.

Maximum temperature: 24-27 degrees, with some areas exceeding 27 degrees.

Da Nang – Binh Thuan

In the North, it will be cloudy with moderate to heavy rain, and scattered thunderstorms; in the South, it will be cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms. In the North, winds will gradually strengthen to level 6-7, near the storm center level 8-9, gusting to level 12; in the South, southwest winds will be level 4-5.

Lowest temperatures: 20-23 degrees in the North, 23-26 degrees in the South.

Highest temperatures: 24-27 degrees in the North, 28-31 degrees in the South.

Central Highlands

Cloudy, with moderate to heavy rain and thunderstorms in the North, and very heavy rain in some areas; scattered showers and thunderstorms in the South, especially tomorrow evening with scattered showers and thunderstorms, and heavy rain in some areas. Westerly winds of force 3-4.

Lowest temperature: 16-19 degrees.

Maximum temperature: 25-28 degrees, in some places above 29 degrees.

Southern Vietnam
