The event was attended by delegates from APGN, comprising over 80 member countries from 10 nations including China, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam.

The delegation from Dak Nong province, led by Ms. Ton Thi Ngoc Hanh, Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and Director of the Dak Nong Geopark Management Board, participated in the meeting.

Established in 2004, APGN has now grown to include over 80 geoparks. Over the years, the network has organized numerous activities in areas such as education , conservation, geotourism, and sustainable development, aiming to bring the geopark model closer to the public. This helps people understand the important role of preserving and promoting the natural and cultural values of geoparks in their lives.

At the meeting, member countries took turns reporting on the operational status of their national Geopark Networks.
On the Vietnamese side, Ms. Tran Nhi Bach Van, representing the Specialized Subcommittee of the Vietnam Geopark Management Board and in charge of professional matters at the Dak Nong Geopark Management Board, reported on some key activities of the Vietnam National Geopark in the 2023-2024 period. These included several key tasks such as: supporting the Dak Nong Geopark in its reassessment as a UNESCO Global Geopark in 2023, supporting the Lang Son Geopark in submitting and defending its application for UNESCO Global Geopark recognition, and some outstanding activities of member geoparks,...
In addition, the Vietnam Geopark Network also outlined several future operational directions to strengthen the activities of its member geoparks and promote sustainable socio-economic development for localities pursuing the geopark model.
This activity is part of a series of programs within the framework of the 2024 UNESCO Global Geopark Network Asia-Pacific International Conference in Cao Bang, taking place from September 8-15.
