DNVN - The Ministry of Industry and Trade is gradually making Vietnam Consumer Rights Day a driving force and an important highlight supporting the business activities of enterprises.

Following the success of activities in response to Vietnam Consumer Rights Day 2023, and in anticipation of the Law on Consumer Rights Protection coming into effect on July 1st, the launching ceremony for Vietnam Consumer Rights Day 2024 took place on the morning of March 15th.

This year's Vietnam Consumer Rights Day has the theme "Transparent Information - Safe Consumption," emphasizing the significance and importance of information for consumer safety in the process of selecting, paying for, and using goods and services. Especially in the context of increasing fraudulent activities and violations of consumer rights, businesses need to uphold their responsibility in their production and business operations.

The theme for Vietnam's Consumer Rights Day 2024 is "Transparent Information - Safe Consumption".

According to the plan, consumer rights protection activities are encouraged to be organized and implemented throughout 2024. These activities will focus on peak business and consumption periods such as New Year's Day, Lunar New Year, and shopping seasons.

The activities in response to the campaign will be concentrated in March (the peak month) and will continue throughout 2024, depending on the practical situation at agencies, organizations, and localities. Some planned activities include organizing the launching ceremony for Vietnam Consumer Rights Day 2024; disseminating information; and distributing relevant documents and publications.

Simultaneously, organize workshops, training courses, and programs on relevant topics to show appreciation to consumers. Organize public events focused on consumers, or competitions to learn about legal regulations, business knowledge and skills, and consumer rights protection…

The Ministry of Industry and Trade encourages the participation of state agencies, social organizations, businesses, and consumers in related activities. The goal is to gradually make Vietnam Consumer Rights Day a driving force and a key highlight in socio-economic life, supporting the business activities of enterprises. This ensures the basic rights of consumers, especially the right to access information transparently and safely.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan affirmed that this event is of special significance as it is being held at a time when the Law on Protection of Consumer Rights has just been passed in June 2023 and will come into effect on July 1st.

"The inclusion of the Vietnamese Consumer Rights Day in the Law on Consumer Rights Protection further affirms the role, position, and importance of consumer rights protection. It creates a stronger legal basis to mobilize the attention, support, and participation of the entire society in the work of protecting consumer rights," Mr. Tan said.

Also at the launching ceremony, the Ministry of Industry and Trade awarded certificates of merit to individuals and collectives who had achieved outstanding results in the drafting of the 2023 Law on Consumer Rights Protection.
