According to Adobe Analytics, as of 6:30 p.m. on December 1 (local time), US consumers spent $9.1 billion on online shopping on Cyber Monday, up 4.5% from the same period last year. After the shopping event ends, this number is expected to increase to $13.9 - $14.2 billion, thereby helping to ease concerns about the health of the US economy and consumers.

According to experts, online retail sales on Cyber Monday were still quite positive, as high-income consumers still spent heavily, while low-income groups hunted for discounts. More than half of online spending on Cyber Monday came from three groups: electronics, fashion and furniture. Large online retailers such as Amazon attracted customers with deep discounts.

Mr. J. Ofori agboka - Vice President of Global Operations, Amazon Group said: "There are many things for people to choose from. We have items such as electronics, sports equipment, sports equipment, medical equipment, technology, computers, headphones with discounts of 30%, 50%, 60%. People can freely shop according to their preferences."

Traffic to US retail sites powered by artificial intelligence (AI) is expected to increase 670% year-over-year, with many consumers using chatbots and other AI features to compare prices and find great deals.

"You can ask our AI shopping assistant, for example, 'What should I buy for my 12-year-old daughter?' and the AI assistant will make great suggestions that are personalized just for you, what it knows about you and your shopping behavior. You can adjust the tool, ask it to help you shop on budget and at the price you want," said Amanda Doerr, vice president of core shopping software, Amazon.

Online retail sales in the five days from Thanksgiving to Cyber Monday are forecast to reach $43.7 billion, up 6.3% year-on-year and accounting for 17.2% of total online retail sales during the holiday season. This will also be a positive sign for consumer health - a key driver of the US economy.

However, software company Salesforce, which tracks online sales from retailers, said that while online sales remained strong, the number of orders was down compared to the same period last year. This means that a significant portion of the sales increase may have come from rising retail prices, as consumers paid more for fewer products.
