Today's pepper prices (August 6th) in the world market.

On the world market, based on quotations from exporting companies and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Association (IPC) has updated the prices of various types of pepper traded on the international market on August 5th (local time) as follows:

Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at US$7,108/tonne. Additionally, Muntok white pepper prices also remained unchanged from yesterday at US$9,937/tonne.

The price of Brazilian ASTA black pepper remained unchanged from yesterday at $6,000 per ton.

Malaysian ASTA black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at US$8,900/tonne. Additionally, the price of ASTA white pepper from the same country also remained unchanged from yesterday at US$11,750/tonne.

Prices for all types of Vietnamese pepper increased slightly by $100/ton compared to yesterday. Specifically, the price of Vietnamese black pepper (500 gr/l) reached $6,240/ton (up 1.6%); and the price of black pepper (550 gr/l) reached $6,370/ton (up 1.57%).

Similarly, the price of Vietnamese white pepper increased by $100/ton compared to yesterday, reaching $8,950/ton (up 1.12%).

Pepper exports have brought in nearly $1 billion after 7 months, with forecasts predicting a sharp increase towards the end of the year.

Vietnam's pepper exports in July 2025 are estimated at approximately 22,000 tons, generating $143 million in revenue. Compared to the previous month, volume decreased by 5.8% and value decreased by 9.4%. However, compared to the same period in 2024, export volume increased by 1% and value increased by 10.4%.

In the first seven months of the year, Vietnam exported a total of 145,000 tons of pepper, earning nearly $991 million. Compared to the same period last year, export volume decreased by 11.6%, but value increased sharply by nearly 30%. This growth in value was mainly due to the average export price in the first seven months being nearly 47% higher than the previous year, reaching $6,823 per ton.

In July alone, the export price of pepper reached US$6,502 per ton. Although down 3.8% compared to June, it was still 9.2% higher than the same period last year. This shows that pepper prices have remained stable at a high level amidst many fluctuations.

On the domestic market, pepper prices fluctuated continuously in the second quarter, reflecting the market's sensitivity to factors such as tax policies and the wait-and-see attitude of businesses. In particular, when information about the US imposing import tariffs on Vietnamese pepper spread, many businesses that had completed orders began to limit further purchases, significantly weakening domestic demand.

Furthermore, although the amended Value Added Tax (VAT) Law officially came into effect on July 1st, there are still no specific guidelines. This has caused confusion among many businesses regarding declaration and transactions, leading to hesitation and a temporary halt in purchases.

According to Ms. Hoang Thi Lien, President of the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), the pepper market in the second half of this year will have the opportunity to recover thanks to renewed stockpiling demand in major markets such as the US. This is considered an important factor helping pepper prices rise in the near future.

Many experts also agree that the market is gradually recovering, with consumer demand showing positive signs of returning. The outlook for pepper exports in the second half of 2025 is considered more promising than in the first half of the year.

The US market is expected to significantly increase pepper import orders in Q4 2025 and Q1 2026, in preparation for the peak consumption season. This is a positive sign, opening up clearer opportunities for recovery for the pepper industry in the near future.
