The period 2020-2025 is the most challenging period for the health sector.

The Minister of Health emphasized that the patriotic emulation movements have encouraged and attracted a large number of cadres, civil servants and public employees in the health sector to participate, creating a vibrant and widespread competitive atmosphere.

The 2020-2025 period is one of the most challenging periods for the Vietnamese healthcare sector as it faces the COVID-19 pandemic, natural disasters, climate change and many global health issues.

In such difficulties, the Vietnamese medical team has demonstrated the spirit of “a good doctor is like a mother,” courage, dedication and fortitude to overcome all hardships, together with the whole country to successfully control the pandemic, protecting the lives and health of the people.

The above information was given by the Ministry of Health at the 8th Patriotic Emulation Congress of the Health Sector (2025-2030), which took place on October 26 in Hanoi. The Congress was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long.

More powerful innovation

Speaking at the Congress, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long emphasized that over the past years, implementing Uncle Ho's call for patriotic emulation, patriotic emulation movements across the country in all sectors and fields have been launched, responded to, implemented effectively, spread strongly, and strengthened the spirit of great national unity. The movements have contributed significantly to helping the whole country overcome difficulties and challenges, achieving great achievements in socio -economic development, and constantly improving the material and spiritual life of the people.

Contributing to the results of the emulation movement and those achievements of the country are the determination, efforts and dedication of the health sector with important achievements, especially in the 2020-2025 term.

Notably, in response to the special emulation movement: "The whole country unites, joins hands, and competes to prevent, fight and defeat the COVID-19 pandemic," the health sector has united, united, not afraid of hardships and dangers, and performed well the role of a frontline force against the epidemic of the "White Shirt Soldiers", making an important contribution to our country's good control of the epidemic, recovery and socio-economic development.

The Ministry of Health has thoroughly grasped and effectively implemented the Party and State's guidelines, policies, and laws on health; notably, advising and submitting to the Politburo to issue Resolution No. 72 with many additional and enhanced policies, along with specific tasks and solutions, creating a foundation for breakthrough development of the sector.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the work of building and perfecting institutions and policies has been promoted by the health sector, contributing to gradually unlocking resources, innovating ways of thinking and working; at the same time, solving many remaining problems, long-standing cases, and public concerns. Preventive medicine capacity, grassroots health care, and the quality of medical examination and treatment have been improved. The application of science and technology, innovation and digital transformation have been promoted; traditional medicine continues to develop. Population work has been focused on implementation, taking advantage of the golden population period and preparing for the population aging period.

The Deputy Prime Minister also analyzed that the new development stage has many favorable opportunities but also poses many difficulties for industries and fields. For the health sector, these are challenges such as: Globalization and international integration pose new requirements for disease control; disease structure has many changes; environmental pollution and social evils are complicated; population size is increasing, people's health care needs are increasingly high and diverse; the trend of population aging is creating increasing pressure on the provision of health services...

That context requires the Ministry and the health sector to strongly promote traditions and achievements; continue to be united, proactive, courageous, and innovate more strongly; overcome limitations and shortcomings; turn emulation movements into a driving force for innovation, creativity, and dedication to strive to excellently fulfill the mission of protecting, caring for, and improving people's health.

Many widespread emulation movements

Speaking at the Congress, Minister Dao Hong Lan emphasized that the patriotic emulation movements have truly encouraged and attracted a large number of cadres, civil servants and public employees in the health sector to participate, creating a vibrant and widespread emulation atmosphere in the health sector nationwide. Many collectives and individuals have been recognized, commended and rewarded by the Party, the State and the Ministry of Health.

The patriotic emulation movement of the health sector in recent times has truly become a strong driving force for each individual and unit to constantly strive to overcome all difficulties and challenges, with dedicated, persistent and creative labor, achieving great achievements. The movement with many results has profoundly changed from ideological awareness to organizational apparatus, operating methods; from expertise, science and technology to improving medical ethics; building a highly humane relationship between doctors and patients, contributing to completing and exceeding the goals in the strategy to protect, care for and improve people's health in the period 2020-2025.

With the theme “Solidarity-Creativity-Confidence in entering the era of national development,” the Congress is an important political event of the health sector, aiming to summarize and evaluate the results of patriotic emulation movements in the past 5 years; commend and honor collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements; and at the same time draw lessons in organizing, rewarding, building and replicating advanced models.

Patriotic emulation movements were launched widely, imbued with humanity and spread strongly, typically: The special emulation movement "The whole country unites, joins hands, and emulates to prevent, fight and defeat the COVID-19 pandemic"; Movement "The health sector 70 years following Uncle Ho's teachings"; Movement "Innovating service style and attitude, aiming at patient satisfaction"; Movement "Cadres, civil servants and public employees compete to implement office culture"; Movement "The whole country competes in innovation and digital transformation"; along with practical activities such as "For the poor - No one is left behind", "The whole country joins hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in 2025"...

Through the movements, tens of thousands of cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers in the health sector have strived to overcome difficulties, promote initiatives, improve professional quality, improve management, and serve the people better and better. Many collectives and individuals have achieved outstanding results, contributing to the comprehensive completion of the sector's political tasks in the recent period.

At the Congress, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long awarded the Labor Medal to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in their work, contributing to the cause of national construction and defense.

Minister of Health awarded Certificates of Merit of the Minister of Health to collectives and individuals with many achievements in the patriotic emulation movement for the period 2020-2025.

During the period of 2020-2025, many collectives, individuals, and typical advanced examples have received many noble titles from the State and commended forms of awards such as: Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital - Labor Hero in 2024, pioneer in digital transformation and smart hospital model; Central Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion - leading unit in humanitarian blood donation movement; Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, Cho Ray Hospital, Hue Central Hospital - typical in the field of high technology and organ transplantation.

Many outstanding individuals, scientists and doctors were honored as Labor Heroes, National Emulation Fighters, People's Physicians, People's Teachers, Meritorious Physicians, Meritorious Teachers and many outstanding collectives and individuals received the Ho Chi Minh Prize, State Prize and Kovalevskaia Prize.../.
