Hue University Director Le Anh Phuong arrested.

The police have issued an arrest warrant for Mr. Le Anh Phuong, Director of Hue University, to investigate alleged wrongdoings during his time as Rector of the University of Education.

On the morning of January 18th, in an interview with VietNamNet reporters, Mr. Ho Thanh Hai, Director of the People's Procuracy of Hue City, confirmed that the unit had just approved the decision to initiate a criminal case and the order to temporarily detain Mr. Le Anh Phuong, Director of Hue University.

According to the Chief Prosecutor of Hue City People's Procuracy, Mr. Phuong was arrested for investigation into alleged abuse of power and authority while serving as the Rector of the University of Education (Hue University).

Prior to his temporary detention, Mr. Le Anh Phuong sent a letter to the member universities and affiliated units of Hue University informing them of his sick leave request; he authorized Mr. Bui Van Loi - Deputy Director of Hue University, to manage and handle the affairs of Hue University during this period.

Mr. Le Anh Phuong (born in 1974, from Quang Binh province ) graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Hue University of Education, and then pursued a Master's and PhD degree at Hanoi University of Technology.

From December 2016 to May 2022, Mr. Le Anh Phuong served as Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Rector of the University of Education - Hue University. In 2017, Mr. Phuong was appointed Associate Professor.

In July 2022, Mr. Le Anh Phuong was appointed by the Ministry of Education and Training to the position of Director of Hue University, for the term 2021-2026.
