Introducing research results, selecting and creating rice and vegetable varieties for the spring crop in 2025

Attending the conference were representatives of leaders of the Departments of Agriculture and Environment, Science and Technology, National Center for Testing and Testing of Plant Varieties and Products; representatives of a number of Chinese professional agencies including: Institute of Crop Research, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Guangxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences; and agricultural seed centers of a number of provinces.

Many tested rice varieties are evaluated for high yield and low pest and disease resistance.

Here, delegates visited the model and listened to reports on research results, selection, testing, demonstration, and production of rice and vegetable varieties for the spring crop of 2025; reports on production techniques and pest and disease prevention on hybrid rice varieties; and production techniques and pest and disease prevention on melons.

In the spring crop of 2025, Bac Giang Seed Joint Stock Company cooperated with Van Xuyen Seed Limited Company to test black pumpkin, melon, green pumpkin and hybrid rice varieties. The above crops were supplied and transferred by Van Xuyen Seed Limited Company.

During the implementation process, the unit assigned staff to closely follow the fields, organize planting according to the right time frame, and comply with technical procedures, so the crops grew and developed well, were less susceptible to pests and diseases, had high yields, and were suitable for local climate and farming conditions.

Specifically, black pumpkins produce large fruits, weighing 15-20 kg/fruit, with an estimated yield of over 3.5 tons/sao, suitable for processing into tea and cakes. Green pumpkins produce fruits weighing 1.5-2 kg/fruit, with a yield of about 2 tons/sao, suitable for daily cooking. Many varieties of melons, after being researched, selected, and planted, have given positive results, suitable for local climate conditions, farming practices, and consumer needs in and outside the province.

At the same time, the Company also organized testing of 43 hybrid rice varieties originating from China. Initially, 7 promising lines were evaluated: VX 256, VX 264, VX 265, VX 266, VX 277, VX 289, VX 290. These are varieties with short growing period, strong plants, high yield, and low susceptibility to pests and diseases.

It is known that, in addition to cooperating with Van Xuyen Seeds Limited Company, Bac Giang Seeds Joint Stock Company also researched and demonstrated many new rice varieties of the unit and some partners to evaluate and promote the products.

The testing is aimed at serving the research and breeding of high-yield, high-quality rice varieties suitable for land conditions, soil, farming practices, and climate change adaptation. This activity is also an important basis for the authorities to continue researching, evaluating, and adding to the quality crop structure of the province and the country, contributing to improving the value and efficiency of agricultural production.
