Amidst the cold rain, a small gift brought great joy to the students in the border region.

On the afternoon of December 5th, amidst the thick fog and cold rain characteristic of the border region of Quang Tri province, the Ban Bu branch of Tan Lap Primary School experienced a special day. A volunteer group from Thu Cuc International General Hospital, in collaboration with AloBacsi and Daisy Media, brought small but practical gifts: a new bookshelf and several bicycles for underprivileged students.

Without fanfare or a grand stage, the award ceremony took place simply in the place where the teachers usually hold their weekly meetings. But it was precisely this simplicity that created a warm and intimate atmosphere, dispelling the biting cold and the forest winds that swept through the wooden walls.

The road to school is still full of difficulties.

Ban Bu school branch is one of the most remote branches of Tan Lap Primary School. The majority of the students are children of the Van Kieu ethnic minority. Many children have to walk 3-5 km through the forest to get to class every day, through dusty red roads in the dry season and slippery and muddy roads in the rainy season.

"There were days when it rained heavily, and the children arrived with their clothes and books soaking wet. But it was rare for any of them to miss school," shared the third-grade homeroom teacher. It is this perseverance that makes the teachers always hope for more support for their students, so that their journey to school would be less arduous.

The school's facilities are limited. The classrooms consist of only a few wooden desks and chairs, a blackboard, and textbooks with worn edges, yet the children cherish them.

The number of books was meager, mostly old textbooks or children's stories that had faded with time. The teachers recounted that whenever they received new books, the children cherished them, passing them around to read and carefully preserving them.

A small bookshelf brings dreams closer.

Understanding this need, Thu Cuc International General Hospital, together with a charitable group, has brought a new bookshelf with many books suitable for elementary school children: comic books, science books, life skills books, bilingual reading books, and many supplementary materials for teachers.

Thu Cúc International General Hospital donates bookshelves to the school.

"Children here love to read, but there are too few books. With a new bookshelf, they will have more opportunities to explore the wider world, " the principal said emotionally.

For remote schools like Bản Bù, a bookshelf is not only a source of learning materials but also a "small window" through which children can look out at the world outside their village.

Bicycles bring dreams of going to school closer together.

In addition to the bookshelves, the volunteer group also brought 10 bicycles for the most disadvantaged students, those who live far from school or have to walk long distances to class every day.

The bicycles were donated to students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

When handing out the bicycles, each student was called by name by their teachers. The hesitant steps of those approaching to receive the gifts quickly gave way to radiant smiles as they touched their brand-new bicycles. The joy was undeniable, shining in the eyes of these students.

For students in mountainous regions, a bicycle is not just a means of transportation, but also a "ticket" that helps them maintain a more regular education, especially during the cold, rainy season.

A few short but heartwarming hours.

The handover ceremony was quite brief, but for the teachers and students of Ban Bu village, it was a memorable afternoon. A warm atmosphere permeated the air, emanating from the gifts and the words of encouragement from the volunteer group.

A representative from Thu Cuc International General Hospital shared: “Children in mountainous areas need more attention from the community. A bookshelf or a bicycle are just small gifts, but if they help the children get to school more easily and study better, that is a great happiness for us.”

Accompanying the delegation, Daisy Media stated that the goal of the journey is to contribute practical support, however small, so that children in border areas can access knowledge and maintain their long-term education.

As the group left the school, a light drizzle still fell, and the distant mountains were shrouded in thick fog. But inside the small school, the new bookshelves were neatly arranged, and the bicycles were being dried and moved to a sheltered spot. This meaningful act of sharing brought joy to generations of students here, enough to make a cold day feel warm.
