Apple announced that Fitness+ will be available in Vietnam starting December 15th. This online workout service costs 69,000 VND per month, or 499,000 VND for an annual plan. Users can share their account with up to five family members.
In Vietnam, Fitness+ is not yet integrated into the Apple One service package (239,000 VND/month for the individual plan). In the US market, the Apple One package includes Fitness+ and News+.
This is the biggest market expansion for the Fitness+ service. In addition to Vietnam, more than 20 other countries such as Australia, Austria, Brazil, etc., can also use this service.
Fitness+ is a virtual trainer service offering 12 workout modes in disciplines such as yoga, HIIT, pilates, cycling, kickboxing, and even meditation. Each workout lasts 5-45 minutes and can be viewed on iPhone, iPad, or Apple TV.
When paired with the Apple Watch, users can also track health metrics directly on the screen. These metrics include heart rate, calories burned, and progress. The Burn Bar feature allows users to compare their workout intensity with others.
Apple brings together a team of professional real-life trainers to design workouts for this service. Additionally, the system can create personalized workout schedules with its Custom Plans feature.
In addition to workouts, Fitness+ is also deeply integrated with Apple Music. Music genres suitable for the pace of the workout will be suggested. The company also has a Time to Walk feature, where users can listen to stories from famous guests such as actress Jane Fonda, singer Shawn Mendes, and F1 driver Yuki Tsunoda.
For Vietnamese users, one of the drawbacks of the service is the lack of Vietnamese language support. Workout videos only support languages such as English, German, and Spanish, with subtitles in additional languages like French, Italian, Portuguese, and Russian. Furthermore, the service lacks advanced exercises for experienced users or specialized equipment. It's also not an "online personal trainer" service, so there's no feature to suggest corrections if users are using incorrect posture.
In Vietnam, besides Apple Fitness+, another major brand, Garmin, also offers the Connect+ service, priced at 179,000 VND per month. Connect+ users also get advanced Garmin Coach, with in-depth training plans from coaches for running or cycling.
