At 6:30 a.m., despite the heavy rain, Mr. Tran Van Luu, from Ha Dong district, still drove his child out of the house to go to school. When he reached Le Van Luong street, the road was more than half a wheel deep, and many people found their way back. When he got to the class, many parents also shared the flooded situation, unable to go to school, so Mr. Luu had to turn his car around and go home.

“The journey home is 3 kilometers, but I have been walking for 1.5 hours and still haven’t arrived. I wish the school had announced it early in the morning so students and parents wouldn’t have to suffer,” said Mr. Luu.

Meanwhile, at 6 a.m., Nguyen Tat Thanh Secondary and High School ( Hanoi National University of Education) sent an urgent notice to all parents of students about "stopping going to school and studying online". The school's notice stated: "Due to heavy rain and flooded roads, to ensure the health and safety of teachers, staff, and students, the entire school has switched to online learning today".

Heavy rain, flooding many streets in Hanoi.

Ms. Dao Thi Thuy, Principal of Doan Thi Diem Primary School (Hanoi) said that although it rained heavily yesterday, the school did not anticipate the flooding of many roads like this morning. Therefore, the school bus still picked up students as usual. However, at 9:00 a.m., the bus was still on the road.

This year, the school has more than 3,600 students. By 8:00 a.m., according to the homeroom teachers, only about 20% of the students were in class. The school announced that because there were too many absent students, today, the students coming to school will not learn new content, but the teachers will only supervise and review for them.

Kim Lien Primary School Principal Nguyen Linh Chi said that this morning, the school announced that students would be delayed to 9am. Parents who live far away or have to pass through flooded roads can keep their children at home to ensure the safety of both children and parents.

"During this time, children only attend orientation and familiarization activities at school, and have not yet learned the school year's curriculum, so parents can rest assured," said Ms. Chi.

According to the plan of the Department of Education and Training, tomorrow (August 27), students of schools in the districts of Ba Dinh, Hoan Kiem, Dong Da, Hai Ba Trung, Cau Giay, Tay Ho, Nam Tu Liem, Bac Tu Liem, Hoang Mai, Thanh Xuan, Long Bien, Ha Dong will be off school to ensure traffic on the day of the parade rehearsal.

The benchmark score for admission to History-Geography Pedagogy is sky-high at 29.84.
