The industry and trade sector in the Central Highlands region aims for industrial growth of over 10% by 2026.

DNO - On the morning of December 5, in Da Nang, the Ministry of Industry and Trade coordinated with the People's Committee of Da Nang city to organize the 11th conference of the industry and trade sector of 11 provinces and cities in the Central Highlands - Central region in 2025.

Attending the conference were Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long and Permanent Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh.

According to the report at the conference, in 2025, industrial production activities in the Central Highlands region are estimated to recover strongly and spread widely. Many provinces and cities achieved double-digit growth rates such as: Nghe An increased by 17.5%; Thanh Hoa increased by 15%; Quang Ngai increased by 12.9%; Thua Thien Hue increased by 13.5%; Dak Lak increased by 12%; Gia Lai increased by 10%, higher than the national average (estimated increase of 9.5%).

Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in the whole region in 2025 is estimated to reach VND 1,700,023 billion, accounting for about 23.9% of the whole country and increasing by 12.3% compared to 2024.

The total export turnover of the region in 2025 is estimated at 34,538 million USD; import turnover is estimated at 34,293 million USD, achieving a trade surplus of 245 million USD, becoming a bright spot in the national trade picture.

Specialized management areas such as electricity, food safety, trade, market management, industrial promotion and trade promotion are closely guided and monitored. This creates conditions for local authorities to be more proactive in management and service to the people and businesses.

In 2026, the industry and trade sector of the provinces and cities in the Central Highlands region aims for the industrial production index (IPP) of the whole region to increase by over 10%. Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue of the whole region is expected to grow by 13.4% (reaching 1,927,877 billion VND). Total import-export turnover of goods in the whole region strives to reach about 76,131 million USD.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long highly appreciated the industry and trade sector of the provinces and cities in the Central Highlands region. Despite facing many difficulties, the sector still achieved many encouraging results in 2025.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that regional connectivity and coordination in state management are increasingly tight. Trade promotion, exploitation of tourism potential and logistics development in the region have been strengthened, creating more momentum to promote trade and attract investment in the region. Market management and ensuring the circulation of goods have been maintained continuously and effectively.

Regional linkage models, industry clusters and value chains in the region are gradually taking shape, creating an important foundation for sustainable industrial and commercial development in the Central Highlands.

Speaking at the conference, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee Ho Ky Minh emphasized the strategic role of the Central Highlands - Central region in economic development, national defense and security.

Mr. Ho Ky Minh said that the entire industry and trade sector in the region has recorded many positive results, contributing significantly to the stability and economic growth of the region. In Da Nang city alone, the total retail sales of goods in 2025 are estimated to reach 134,584 billion VND (up 17% compared to 2024). The industrial production index (IPP) in the city is estimated to increase by 8-9% over the same period. The total import-export turnover of goods in 2025 is estimated to reach 8,852 million USD, up 10% over the same period.

Da Nang City is committed to continuing to accompany businesses, creating a favorable and transparent investment and business environment. At the same time, the city will promote its role as a regional connection, promoting trade, logistics, supply chains, and working with localities towards the goal of rapid and sustainable development.

The conference focused on discussing orientations, goals and identifying key tasks for the development of the industry and trade sector in the Central Highlands - Central region in 2026 and the 2026 - 2030 period.

Delegates focused on proposing solutions to overcome current difficulties, promote regional connectivity, and promote green transformation in production and trade. Thereby, moving towards sustainable development and ensuring the target of double-digit growth.

The conference also set out the task of building a forum connecting the government, businesses and investors, aiming to form inter-regional value chains and sustainable industry clusters. The goal is to improve the overall competitiveness of the Central Highlands region.
