Hanoi requests to remove all parking lots under bridges

The Hanoi Department of Construction has just directed to review and relocate the parking lot from under Vinh Tuy Bridge, ensuring fire prevention and fighting safety and road corridors, before October 30.

On September 4, the Hanoi Department of Construction issued an urgent dispatch regarding the fire at the parking lot under Vinh Tuy Bridge. Accordingly, Mr. Hoang Minh Hung, Director of the Hanoi Department of Construction, requested the Traffic Infrastructure Maintenance Board to preside over and coordinate with relevant units to review all management and use of road safety corridors. Especially the temporary use of roads and sidewalks, ensuring that they are not used for illegal purposes. The Maintenance Board must also coordinate with the Hanoi City Police and the People's Committees of communes and wards to promptly handle cases of encroachment, occupation, and illegal use of road safety corridors.

The Hanoi Department of Construction emphasized that the Traffic Infrastructure Maintenance Board must take responsibility if it allows problems in the management and use of road safety corridors and road land, threatening the safety of road works in the area. At the same time, this unit must not allow fires related to road infrastructure to occur; report the results of the review to the Department of Construction before September 15.

Along with that, the Hanoi Department of Construction assigned the Traffic Infrastructure Management Department to review and propose solutions to immediately relocate parking lots out of the road infrastructure protection area before October 30. This department was also assigned to review the list of roads and streets eligible for temporary use of part of the roadway for parking of road vehicles. The purpose is to advise the Hanoi People's Committee to approve the adjustment in September 2025.

In addition, the Finance - Investment Department is responsible for reviewing and proposing investment in the construction of parking lots that meet the standards according to the approved planning, meeting the needs of static traffic. Then, report to the City People's Committee to include in the medium-term capital allocation plan and the annual investment call list.

Previously, on August 30, a fire broke out, burning hundreds of motorbikes at a vehicle parking lot under Vinh Tuy Bridge. Immediately after the incident, the Ministry of Construction issued a directive requiring the Chairmen of the People's Committees of provinces and cities to immediately relocate the vehicle parking facilities out of the protected area of ​​road infrastructure before October 30, 2025.
