On the evening of May 20th, the Ben Cat Town Police in Binh Duong province announced that they are holding Dang Van Minh (28 years old, from Soc Trang ) and Lam Xuan Kieu (31 years old, from Tay Ninh) in custody for investigation into the crime of robbery.
According to the police, Minh and Kieu conspired to rob passersby because they needed money for expenses.
On the evening of May 19th, the two men, armed with weapons, hid in a roadside bush in Chanh Phu Hoa ward, Ben Cat town, waiting for an opportunity to rob passersby.
At that moment, Mr. L. was riding his motorbike with his girlfriend along the road when two individuals rushed out and threatened him with weapons. Out of fear, Mr. L. handed over his wallet to them.
After committing the crime, the two suspects got into a car and fled. Mr. L. later encountered a patrol team from the Chánh Phú Hòa Ward Police Station who were on duty, and reported the incident.
The patrol team immediately launched an investigation and apprehended Minh and Kiều as they were attempting to escape.
