Hai Duong strengthens forest fire prevention during holidays

In 2024, Hai Duong identified 10 key areas for forest fires, including 6 key areas in Chi Linh and 4 key areas in Kinh Mon.

To proactively prevent, promptly respond to situations and minimize damage caused by forest fires, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development requests the People's Committee of Chi Linh City and Kinh Mon Town to direct the police, military, forest rangers and People's Committees of communes and wards to strictly implement the responsibility of state management on forest fire prevention and fighting; strengthen inspection and supervision of forest fire prevention and fighting, considering this one of the key tasks throughout the peak period of forest fires. Have specific and detailed plans, arrange permanent forces at checkpoints and stations to strictly control people entering and exiting forest areas at high risk of fire. Organize on-duty shifts, assign forces on duty in areas with forest fire risk warning levels of level III or higher; strengthen patrols, guard, early detection of forest fires and ensure forces on duty, ready to mobilize on-site forces to handle forest fires as soon as they occur. Arrange means, materials and funding to effectively implement the "4 on-site" motto.

Strengthen propaganda and education to raise awareness and responsibility in forest fire prevention and fighting; inspect, urge and guide people's use of fire in forests and near forests; temporarily stop activities of treating vegetation by fire and other fire-using behaviors that pose a risk of causing forest fires during peak forest fire periods according to regulations.

The Forest Protection Department and the Forest Management Board inspect and maintain forest fire fighting vehicles and equipment to best prepare and ensure readiness for forest fire fighting when mobilized. Assign forces to be on duty 24/7 and increase patrols and guarding during long hot days, during the April 30 and May 1 holidays in key areas with high risk of forest fires, special-use forests, protective forests, and historical relic sites in the area.
