In its first time being held, the tournament was exciting and attractive, becoming an interesting tourism product of the city. The tournament was organized by the People's Committee of Son Tra district in coordination with the Vietnam Television Center for the Central - Central Highlands region (VTV8).
From dawn, athletes competed in three distances: 6km, 16km and 26km. To complete the distances, athletes ran on a specially designed route with a cool natural landscape and a slope of nearly 1,000m towards the top of Son Tra.
With the route starting from Hoang Sa Street (intersection of Vu Ngoc Nha Street) to Ban Co Peak, athletes have the opportunity to explore famous places on Son Tra Peninsula such as: Linh Ung Pagoda, Son Tra Tinh Vien, Son Tra Radar Station, Vong Canh House...
After a period of exciting competition, the Organizing Committee awarded the top 3 outstanding athletes in each competition.
Specifically, in the 6km category for women, the first prize went to athlete Nguyen Khanh Ly with a time of 21 minutes and 31 seconds; in the 16km category for women, the first prize went to athlete Nong Thi Quynh Nhu with a time of 1 hour 15 minutes and 4 seconds; and in the 26km category for women, the first prize went to athlete Nguyen Thi Thanh Phuc with a time of 2 hours 10 minutes and 34 seconds.
In the 6km event for men, athlete Mao Quoc Tien won first prize with a time of 20 minutes and 15 seconds; in the 16km event for men, first prize went to athlete Tran Dinh Hao with a time of 1 hour 4 minutes and 52 seconds; in the 26km event for men, first prize went to Vo Xuan Vinh with a time of 1 hour 48 minutes and 56 seconds.
Mr. Huynh Van Hung, Vice Chairman of Son Tra District People's Committee said: "The Son Tra Challenge Run 2023 aims to promote the beauty of Son Tra, held right on Christmas 2023, expected to attract a large number of domestic and foreign tourists.
In addition to promoting the image and building tourism products for Da Nang city, the race also aims to promote and spread sports and fitness movements in people's lives. Communicate to tourists and people the spirit and awareness of protecting nature and wildlife on Son Tra peninsula.
On the sidelines of the tournament, there are a series of environmental protection activities, aiming to encourage and raise participants' awareness in preserving green forests and reducing plastic waste."
