At today's opening ceremony of the new academic year, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Hoang Tu Anh - Rector of the University of Information Technology (Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City) - stated that the AI (artificial intelligence) era is opening up great opportunities but also posing many challenges for new students.

Going to university is just the beginning; don't be complacent or get carried away.

As Gen Z, freshmen are hailed as citizens of the digital age, the era of AI, and the new generation that is changing the world .

"Entering university is just the beginning; don't be complacent or get carried away. Student life is wonderful, but it also has many difficulties, challenges, and temptations waiting for you ahead."

"So don't get lost in social media, TikTok, live a healthy life, and most importantly, balance studying, entertainment, and stay away from the pitfalls," Ms. Tu Anh advised.

The principal also argued that machines now not only perform tasks assigned by humans but also have the ability to learn, adapt, and even innovate.

Therefore, studying at the University of Information Technology is not just about acquiring knowledge, but also about developing critical thinking, creativity, and adaptability skills.

"Students will not only learn from books and classroom lectures, but also from real-world experiences, practical projects, and interactions with friends, colleagues, and teachers. These are the factors that help them develop comprehensively, not only in terms of knowledge but also in skills and self-worth," Ms. Tu Anh shared.

In the context of the AI era and the digital age, learning is not simply about acquiring knowledge, but also about developing self-learning skills, adaptability, and a lifelong learning mindset.

"Technology will continue to develop, the world will continue to change, and what we learn today may become outdated in the not-too-distant future. Therefore, your task is not only to learn what your teachers teach, but also to explore , learn, and constantly renew yourselves," the principal emphasized.

"The university environment is full of pitfalls; one wrong move and there's no turning back."

During a recent conversation with new students at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City), Mr. Tran Ba Duong - Chairman of the Board of Directors of THACO Group - advised young people to make the most of their time at university, as it is a valuable foundation and preparation for their future lives.

Drawing from his own experiences as a student at the Polytechnic University to his role as chairman of THACO Group, Mr. Tran Ba Duong shared some words of encouragement with new students, hoping they would be well-prepared for their new journey at university.

According to Mr. Duong, discipline in a university environment is closely linked to autonomy, and this is the highest level of discipline. In a university environment, students almost have a certain degree of freedom, but this is also the time when they are torn between future goals and immediate pleasures.

As you can see, learning is vast and boundless. Therefore, it's essential to learn how to filter, focus, and cultivate critical thinking skills right from the first year, when you begin studying basic science subjects.

All the knowledge that teachers impart serves as a foundation for you to develop your thinking skills and problem-solving abilities.

You should not only focus on your professional skills but also pay attention to management knowledge.

When you can manage your time and your life effectively, you will certainly be able to fulfill the role of managing and leading a business.

In this university environment, students can take on leadership roles, assert their capabilities, and commit to the community.

We always face challenges and difficulties, and these things help us grow. It's all part of a multifaceted interaction in our studies, in our lives, and in the environment where we will grow, live, and work in the future.

Mr. Tran Ba Duong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of THACO Group:

The line between gain and loss

All the knowledge imparted by teachers is not just a foundation for students to develop their thinking and problem-solving skills. Students will also have to face responsibility for themselves and their own lives. They need to demonstrate their capabilities and efforts to earn the trust of their parents and teachers.

All these issues lead to a fine line between gain and loss. We put in a lot of effort to get something, but just one small mistake and we lose it all.

It can be said that the university environment is full of difficulties and challenges, many pitfalls where a single mistake can lead to irreversible consequences, but it is the foundation of all foundations in our lives later on.

We have every right to be proud of our intellectual foundation, fundamental skills, and academic achievements. Don't let these opportunities for growth, but also the pitfalls of a successful university life in the city, slip away.
