According to South Korean media, coach Jurgen Klinsmann returned to the US on February 10th, just two days after he and the national team returned from the 2023 Asian Cup campaign. Prior to this, the German coach had confirmed he would leave South Korea next week.

Coach Jurgen Klinsmann was scheduled to hold a meeting to review and evaluate the South Korean national team's performance at the 2023 Asian Cup. However, his early return to the US has led Interfootball to believe that he is unlikely to attend this meeting.

" As the head coach, if the team doesn't achieve its goals at the end of the tournament, we have to analyze and take responsibility. We need to analyze in more detail, look back more closely at the matches ," said coach Klinsmann after the loss to Jordan.

Coach Klinsmann returned to the US after two days in South Korea.

A Korea Football Association (KFA) official said, " After the Lunar New Year holiday, we will conduct a comprehensive review of the national team's activities and the recent tournament. First, Coach Klinsmann will hold a meeting with association officials. That's the plan ."

Reporter Shin In-seop wrote: " I don't understand how they moved forward without reassessing everything. Coach Klinsmann was confident of winning the Asian Cup when he was appointed head coach. Therefore, if they failed, they should have reviewed the reasons, what was lacking, and come up with a new plan. However, Coach Klinsmann ignored all the procedures and went back to the US ."

The reporter revealed that Chung Mong-gyu, the president of the Korean Football Association, was very fond of Klinsmann. The president appointed the German coach without following established procedures.

Shin In-seop believes that coach Klinsmann may take further unexpected actions with the support of Chairman Chung Mong-gyu.

Coach Klinsmann took over in South Korea in March 2023, replacing his predecessor Paulo Bento. The former star player did not help the South Korean national team improve much professionally. Son Heung-min and his teammates' victories mainly came from matches against weaker opponents.

The coach has 2.5 years remaining on his contract with the Korea Football Association (KFA). If the KFA dismisses him, the compensation could amount to $4.5 million (110 billion VND).
