On the morning of September 26, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh chaired a meeting of the Organizing Committee for the activities commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024).
Attending the meeting were the Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, Le Hong Son, and the Vice Chairmen of the City People's Committee: Ha Minh Hai and Vu Thu Ha.
Reporting at the meeting, Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Tourism, Do Dinh Hong, stated that the city had successfully organized information and propaganda activities commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi, highlighting the socio -economic development and national defense and security achievements of Hanoi over the past 70 years; and promoting the image of the capital city through mass media.

The Standing Committee of the Hanoi City Party Committee has reviewed and decided to suspend or adjust the scale and timing of activities due to the impact of Typhoon No. 3, which caused significant damage to several northern provinces and cities, including Hanoi. Specifically, Hanoi has suspended eight activities, including the fireworks display scheduled for the evening of October 10, 2024, at 30 locations throughout the city; and the light show celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi.
The city also adjusted the scale and timing of 7 activities, including reducing the scale of the special art program "City of Peace - City of Flying Dragons" on the evening of October 10th, moving it from My Dinh National Stadium to Thang Long Imperial Citadel.
The city also ensured the necessary infrastructure, equipment, security, and order to successfully organize the "Cultural Festival for Peace" commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi and the 25th anniversary of Hanoi being honored as a "City for Peace".
In addition, the national-level celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi will be held on the morning of October 10, 2024, at the National Convention Center with approximately 3,000 delegates in attendance. The Hanoi People's Committee has drafted a plan for the national-level celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi; and finalized the draft plan to be submitted to the City Party Committee for reporting to the Central Propaganda Department, the Standing Committee of the Party Central Committee, and the National Steering Committee for commemorating major holidays in the three years 2022-2025.

After the Organizing Committee members discussed and concluded the meeting, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh affirmed that the organization of events and programs in the series of activities commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi must ensure a comprehensive and prominent nature, clearly demonstrating the role of the capital city in the country.
Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee, Tran Sy Thanh, also requested that information and communication efforts regarding the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi be intensified, ensuring appropriateness and scale. At the same time, it should clearly express gratitude for the sacrifices made by the Party Committee, government, military, and people of Hanoi in particular, and localities nationwide in general, who contributed to the liberation of the capital more than 70 years ago.
The Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee requested that relevant units focus on finalizing the protocol plan and assigning specific tasks for the national-level commemoration ceremony and programs involving Party and State leaders, as well as local and international guests.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City also requested the People's Committees of the 30 districts, counties, and towns to organize environmental sanitation and beautify the streets to be "Green - Clean - Beautiful," creating a cheerful and enthusiastic atmosphere at the grassroots level and in accordance with the practical conditions of each locality.
