Student dies on picnic, Department of Education and Training requests no spontaneous organization

Accordingly, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training requested its affiliated schools, districts, towns, andeducational institutions to propagate and strictly implement measures to ensure safety for students when participating in social activities and experiential activities.

The Hanoi Department of Education and Training also recommends that units should not organize spontaneous experiential activities and picnics.

In previous directives and instructions, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training required educational institutions to obtain permission from the management level when organizing outdoor and experiential activities. In particular, educational institutions must clearly state the time, location, participants, duration, and whether the activities are age-appropriate.

The first requirement that this department puts forth is to ensure the safety of students when participating in outdoor activities and experiences.

Regarding the incident of a parent and student who died while participating in a clam catching experience at Xuan Thuy National Park, the latest report from the Department of Education and Training of Nam Tu Liem District sent to the Department of Education and Training of Hanoi said that teachers in the school visited, encouraged, and sent condolences to the families of the two victims.

After receiving the information, the Department of Education and Training of Nam Tu Liem District investigated the incident, and leaders and experts of the department came to express condolences to the families of the two victims.

This unit has directed schools to coordinate with authorities and families to resolve the incident and promptly handle other arising situations to stabilize students' psychology and discipline.

The Department of Education and Training also educates school students about school security and safety, and drowning prevention, especially during the upcoming summer.

At the same time, the Department of Education and Training of Nam Tu Liem District requires schools in the area to strengthen propaganda, education on ethics and lifestyle, pay attention to school counseling... for students; pay attention to safety and security in schools, prevent injuries and drowning accidents.

Previously, as Thanh Nien reported, on May 20, a sixth grade student and his parent in Hanoi died while experiencing clam catching at Xuan Thuy National Park. While the student and his parent were participating, the sandbank collapsed, sweeping the student into the river. The parent went to save him but was swept away by the water.

The tour group was organized by a class with about 50 people including students and parents participating, with one parent being the group leader.
