Vietnam Writers Association revokes decision to transfer Mr. Luong Ngoc An

(Dan Tri Newspaper) - The Executive Committee of the Vietnam Writers Association has revoked the decision to appoint Mr. Luong Ngoc An as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the magazine "Writers and Life".

Confirming with a reporter from Dan Tri newspaper , a source said that the Vietnam Writers Association held a meeting on January 3rd and revoked the decision to appoint Mr. Luong Ngoc An as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the magazine "Writers and Life".

"During the meeting, the Writers' Association discussed many issues, including what had and hadn't been done, and the public opinion surrounding Mr. Luong Ngoc An recently. Therefore, the Association made the above decision," a source shared.

On January 4th, the Vietnam Writers Association also sent a letter to its members regarding the appointment of Mr. An as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the magazine "Writers and Life," which was publicly posted on the Association's website.

Accordingly, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Writers Association stated that at a meeting in June 2024, poet Tran Dang Khoa - Vice President of the Vietnam Writers Association and Editor-in-Chief of the magazine "Writers and Life" - proposed adding a Deputy Editor-in-Chief to the magazine. He suggested poet Luong Ngoc An, currently working at the Vietnam Writers Association, for this position.

The Executive Committee requested poet Luong Ngoc An to provide explanations regarding several personal issues, discussed the magazine's operational situation, the necessary need for additional personnel, and decided to transfer poet Luong Ngoc An to work at the magazine "Writers and Life" as Deputy Editor-in-Chief from November 28, 2024.

However, after reviewing several aspects of the process and considering certain conditions related to the reassignment, the Executive Committee decided to revoke this decision and report it to the higher-level press steering agency and press management agency.

Previously, in late November 2024, poet Tran Dang Khoa announced that, due to age and health reasons, he was gradually retiring from his positions and work. He specifically announced that he would only finish the Spring 2025 issue of the magazine "Writer and Life".

Therefore, the Writers' Association appointed Mr. Luong Ngoc An to the position of Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the magazine "Writers and Life". However, this decision was met with opposition from many people, with conflicting opinions related to the controversies surrounding Mr. Luong Ngoc An's private life.

That is why the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Writers Association has drafted this reply letter.
