More than 18,000 pagodas across the country simultaneously rang bells to pray for national peace and prosperity.

(PLVN) - At exactly 6:00 a.m. this morning - July 1, more than 18,000 pagodas across the country simultaneously rang three bells and drums to pray for national peace and prosperity, welcoming the first day of operation of new provinces and cities after the merger and operation of the 2-level local government model.

The Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha said that July 1, 2025 is the first day of operation of the new provinces and cities after the merger and operation of the two-level local government model nationwide.

This is an extremely special historical event in the process of the nation entering a new era of prosperous development.

With the tradition of Buddhism accompanying the nation in every historical journey, the Standing Committee of the Board of Trustees requests the Board of Trustees of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in provinces and cities; pagodas and monasteries nationwide to ring the bell three times and the Prajna drum to pray for national peace and prosperity, chant sutras and perform spiritual rituals to pray for peace, arousing the strength of national unity and the sacred soul of the mountains and rivers of Vietnam.

Responding to the call and announcement of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, at 6:00 a.m. this morning, more than 18,000 pagodas and monasteries across the country simultaneously rang the bell and drum three times to pray for national peace and prosperity, in harmony with the faith and expectation on the first day of operation of the new provinces and cities after the merger and operation of the two-level local government model - opening a new era of national peace and prosperity, the country's steady development, people's peace, and clear Dharma.

This morning, July 1, the Vietnam Buddhist Academy Pagoda in Hanoi rang the bell and drum to pray for national peace and prosperity in the new era of development.

At exactly 00:00 on July 1, the Academy also solemnly held a Great Prayer Ceremony for national peace and prosperity on this historic moment of the nation.
