More than 2,000 athletes participated in the 1st Phuc Tho Commune Sports Festival

The first Phuc Tho Commune Sports Festival was attended by more than 2,000 athletes from agencies, units, schools and villages in the area.

In his opening speech, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Phuc Tho Commune Kieu Trong Sy emphasized that the first Sports Festival of Phuc Tho Commune is not only an occasion for sports competitions, but also a festival of will, solidarity and pride in the homeland of Phuc Tho, a heroic and affectionate land. This is also an opportunity to honor the movement "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho", contributing to improving health, training will, educating morality, personality, lifestyle, and at the same time developing mass sports and traditional national sports.

Chairman of the People's Committee of Kieu Trong Sy commune said that in recent years, Phuc Tho has invested heavily in physical education and sports, such as: the Commune Cultural - Sports Center with an area of 7 hectares, an investment capital of more than 230 billion VND, building a new multi-purpose gymnasium with 2,500 seats; many sports fields and outdoor training equipment have been built and renovated in the villages... From here, sports clubs for youth, the elderly, and women operate effectively, creating a widespread training environment.

Thanks to that, the mass sports movement in Phuc Tho is increasingly widespread, the number of people participating in regular training increases every year. Many athletes of the commune have reached the national and international level, making their mark with prestigious awards: Nguyen Thi Ngoan - World Karate Champion, Nguyen Thi Dieu Ly - Gold Medal at the 2025 Asian Youth Karate Championship; Vu Tien Cuong - Bronze Medal at the 2024 World Pencak Silat Championship; Kieu Duy Quan - Gold Medal at the National Kickboxing Championship...

Comrade Kieu Trong Sy called on athletes to compete with an honest and noble spirit; referees to work impartially; the Organizing Committee to operate scientifically, ensuring absolute safety, so that each match is not only a race for achievements, but also a symphony of will, spirit and pride of Phuc Tho.

Right after the opening ceremony, delegates and people enjoyed special performances: aerobics, folk dance, karate performances, school gymnastics... These performances created a vibrant, colorful atmosphere, promoting the spirit of "Healthy to build and protect the Fatherland".
