More than 5,600 people aged 70 and over without pensions receive benefits

The Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Vinh Phuc province said that after 3 years of implementing Resolution No. 18/2021/NQ-HDND, 5,636 elderly people received subsidies with a total cost of 21.2 billion VND.

Resolution No. 18/2021/NQ-HDND of the People's Council of Vinh Phuc province stipulating the monthly social assistance level for the elderly from 70 to under 80 years old belonging to poor households, near-poor households, without pension, social insurance benefits, preferential allowances for people with meritorious services to the revolution in Vinh Phuc province, officially took effect from January 1, 2020.

During the policy implementation process, the Department assessed that there was close coordination between all levels, sectors, relevant agencies, units and socio -political organizations, especially with the support of all classes of people.

After 3 years of implementation, the monthly social assistance policy for the elderly from 70 to 80 years old in poor households, near-poor households without pensions, social insurance benefits, and preferential benefits for people with revolutionary contributions has truly come into life.

This subsidy helps improve the living conditions of elderly people from poor and near-poor households who do not receive pensions or other benefits.

However, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs stated that although the support policy has lowered the age (70 years old), it can only support a small number of elderly people from poor households, near-poor households, without pensions, social insurance benefits, or preferential benefits for meritorious people to benefit from the policy.

Meanwhile, many elderly people still have difficult and arduous lives.

The benefit of support policies for the elderly is associated with poor and near-poor households, so it is not stable, because when the elderly are not in poor or near-poor households, they cannot continue to enjoy support policies according to Resolution No. 18/2021/NQ-HDND.
