Tourism cooperation between Quang Ninh (Vietnam) and Chongzuo (China)

As part of the activities of the 2025 Spring Meeting program and the 16th Joint Working Committee Conference held in Quang Ninh, a seminar on tourism development cooperation between the Quang Ninh Provincial Department of Tourism, Vietnam, and Chongzuo City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China, took place in Ha Long City on February 21st.

Representatives from the Quang Ninh Provincial Department of Tourism shared information about the potential and advantages of tourism development in Quang Ninh.

At the seminar, representatives from the Quang Ninh Department of Tourism introduced the potential and advantages of Quang Ninh's tourism development, highlighting its rich tourism resources, beautiful natural landscapes, and distinctive culture. Quang Ninh province and Chongzuo city share many similarities, particularly the possession of World Heritage sites. Sharing experiences in preserving and promoting heritage values, and researching the connection of heritage tourism routes between Ha Long Bay in Quang Ninh and the Hoa Son rock paintings in Chongzuo city, will create advantages for the tourism development of both localities.

Representatives from Chongzuo City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China, put forward several proposals for tourism development between the two localities.

Quang Ninh province also wishes to strengthen cooperation in communication and promotion of tourism development, connecting businesses in product development and exploiting the two-way tourist market. Leveraging the advantages of the Hoanh Mo (Vietnam) – Dong Trung (China) border gate pair, including the Bac Phong Sinh (Vietnam) - Ly Hoa (China) customs clearance point that has been announced, both sides will strengthen cooperation between border localities, promote import and export of goods, immigration, and exploit the flow of tourists through the border gate; striving to attract 500,000 two-way tourists by 2025.

Representatives from Chongzuo City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China, highly appreciated Quang Ninh's tourism potential and its well-developed transportation infrastructure. This will be a driving force for tourism development between the two localities. During the 2025 Spring Meeting and the 16th Joint Working Committee Conference held in Quang Ninh, Chongzuo City expressed its desire to collaborate with Quang Ninh province in researching new cross-border tourism products, developing smart tourism, and applying technology and artificial intelligence in the tourism sector to better attract and serve tourists; implementing preferential policies and creating a healthy tourism environment to attract businesses to invest in the tourism sector; and jointly organizing people-to-people exchanges such as the Chongzuo-Quang Ninh Cultural Month, cultural, sports, and trade exchanges, and showcasing the traditional cultures of both sides.

The working program aims to concretize the agreements and cooperation documents between the leaders of Quang Ninh province and the leaders of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China, on further strengthening exchange and cooperation in many fields, including border tourism development.
