On the morning of October 9th, despite the rainy weather and high waves, workers from Thua Thien Hue Irrigation Construction Joint Stock Company were still urgently digging and pumping sand from the sea into geotextile pipes (each pipe 5.3m wide and 50m long) to reinforce the soft embankment along the coast of Thuan An ward - where serious erosion had just occurred after typhoon No. 10.
At the construction site, the atmosphere is bustling with activity, with two large suction dredgers and two excavators working at full capacity. Mr. Le Huu Duy, the construction commander of Thua Thien Hue Irrigation Construction Joint Stock Company, stated that the length of the soft embankment is 450 meters, starting from the embankment section of the former Phu Thuan commune (now part of Thuan An ward) to the Thuan An coastline. The unit is working diligently, taking advantage of the sunny weather; however, the current rain and large waves are causing significant difficulties. Nevertheless, the unit will ensure completion within the planned 10 days.
The soft embankment, part of the "Emergency Response to Address Coastal Erosion Damage in Thuan An Ward Due to Typhoon No. 10 and Floods," was implemented by the Hue City People's Committee after declaring a natural disaster emergency in early October 2025. This is an urgent solution to protect the lives and property of residents before the complex rainy and stormy season in the final months of the year.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tin, a resident of Thuan An ward, expressed his joy at the city's prompt and timely attention. However, in the long term, he hopes that the local authorities will soon build a solid, sturdy embankment so that people can live and do business along the coast with peace of mind, as this erosion has been occurring frequently and is becoming increasingly serious.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Thuan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thuan An Ward, erosion and landslides in the area are quite serious due to its proximity to Tam Giang Lagoon. After Typhoon No. 10, the ward submitted a request to the city for remedial measures. Currently, there is a plan to invest in a seawall project in the area with a total investment of 250 billion VND and is expected to be implemented in 2026. The government and people of Thuan An are hoping that the project will help stabilize the coastal erosion situation.

Due to the impact of Typhoon No. 10, a section of coastline in Thuan An ward, approximately 300 meters long, bordering the former Phu Thuan - Thuan An beach, has suffered severe erosion, damaging essential infrastructure, affecting vital transportation routes (National Highway 49B), posing a risk of creating new sea access points, and impacting the lives of people living along the coast.
