This was the topic discussed at the scientific conference "Pharmaceutical Industry - Innovation for Greater Success," one of the activities commemorating the 10th anniversary of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Phenikaa University. Speaking at the event, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Thanh Huy, the Rector of the university, shared the future development directions of the university and the Faculty of Pharmacy.

Accordingly, the Faculty aims to continuously improve the quality of training, scientific research, and technology for innovation, contributing to socio-economic development and national construction. In the period 2025-2030, the Faculty strives to train high-quality pharmaceutical human resources for society, aiming to be among the Top 10 reputable pharmacist training programs in Vietnam by 2030. Simultaneously, it proposes innovative approaches to curriculum development, such as increasing practical experience in pharmacies and hospitals; innovating teaching and assessment methods; and transitioning undergraduate and postgraduate programs for talented students to develop themselves in the pharmaceutical field.

In the context of globalization and the rapid development of science and technology, the pharmaceutical industry also needs to change to keep up with new technological trends. Recognizing this requirement, within the framework of the anniversary celebration, the Faculty of Pharmacy organized a scientific conference with the theme "The Pharmaceutical Industry - Innovation for Greater Reach". The conference was not only a forum for academic exchange but also an opportunity for researchers and training institutions to work together to build and develop the national pharmaceutical industry to reach international standards.

At the workshop, Mr. Ta Manh Hung, Deputy Director of the Drug Administration Department, Ministry of Health, shared the innovative content in the Strategy for the Development of the Vietnamese Pharmaceutical Industry for the period up to 2030 and a vision to 2045. Experts discussed pharmacist training to meet societal needs at the workshop.

Discussing the development of the pharmaceutical industry, Mr. Hoang Quoc Lam, Deputy Director of the Chemical Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade, affirmed that Vietnam has great potential in medicinal plants.

However, the proportion of medicinal herbs used in drug production is very low. The industrial production value of the pharmaceutical chemistry industry accounts for a small percentage of the total production value of the pharmaceutical industry in particular, and of the entire industrial sector in general…

This study examines the causes of the current situation and proposes solutions aimed at achieving domestic drug production targets within Vietnam's pharmaceutical industry development strategy. Accordingly, the goal is to continue producing 20% of the raw materials needed for domestic drug manufacturing by 2030; and by 2045, to proactively produce specialized drugs, new drugs, original branded drugs, vaccines, etc., particularly including original branded drugs researched, manufactured, and patented from domestically sourced raw materials.

In addition, the program dedicated significant time to discussing the topic "Innovating Pharmacist Training to Meet Social Needs," bringing together many experts from various fields of the pharmaceutical industry. Here, experts exchanged and discussed what pharmaceutical educational institutions should do to concretize their development strategies aligned with the overall direction of the industry.
