Monitoring data shows that although the water levels of the Red River and Tich River are changing slowly, they remain above alarm level II. This poses a significant safety risk to the dike system, which has not had to withstand major floods for many years.
To ensure the safety of the dike system, based on the 2006 Dike Law, the People's Committee of Phuc Tho District issued a notice prohibiting vehicles with a load capacity exceeding 1 ton from using the dikes along the Red River and Tich River (except for vehicles participating in disaster prevention and control).
The District People's Committee has assigned the Police force to take the lead, in coordination with the Transport Inspection Team and the People's Committees of the communes through which the Red River and Tich River dikes pass, to organize forces to guide and reroute vehicles and people along designated routes to avoid the aforementioned dikes.
Speaking with a reporter from the Economic and Urban Newspaper, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Phuc Tho District, Le Van Thu, said that the District People's Committee has directed communes with dikes to develop plans and be prepared for any situation when river water levels rise.
Local authorities are also required to deploy teams on duty 24/7 at dike guard posts and at commune People's Committee headquarters; ready to mobilize forces, materials, and equipment to participate in disaster prevention and control according to the "four on-the-spot" principle.
