The event aims to support food and beverage businesses to introduce and promote quality products to export partners, buyers and consumers.


On the morning of December 11, in Ho Chi Minh City, the opening ceremony of the “Trade Connection Week, Introducing Food and Foodstuff Products” was held, organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Investment and Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Food and Foodstuff Association (FFA).

The event takes place until December 17, 2024, at the Ho Chi Minh City Trade and Investment Promotion Center, 92 - 96 Nguyen Hue, District 1.

The event gathered nearly 100 typical enterprises of Ho Chi Minh City in the fields of consumer goods, dried goods, seafood, sweets, confectionery, beverages, and clean agriculture . This is an opportunity for domestic enterprises to introduce and promote quality products and reputable brands to export partners, buyers, and domestic and foreign consumers.

Sharing at the event, Ms. Ly Kim Chi - President of the Ho Chi Minh City Food and Foodstuff Association - said: The food and food industry of Ho Chi Minh City plays an important role in the economic development of the city, accounting for about 20% of the total industrial production value.

In particular, Ho Chi Minh City food products not only serve domestic consumption needs but also reach out to the world, conquering demanding international markets such as Europe (EU), the US and Japan.

According to Ms. Ly Kim Chi, in 2024, the food industry will face many challenges from the global market, but at the same time, many great opportunities will open up. New consumer trends such as green food, alternative products, or high requirements for traceability have set a new development path full of potential for the Vietnamese food industry.

“Events like today's Exhibition Week are the platform for businesses to not only introduce products, but also connect, grasp trends and build sustainable development strategies,” Ms. Ly Kim Chi hopes.

From the perspective of the coordinating organization, Mr. Tran Phu Lu, Director of the Center for Trade and Investment Promotion of Ho Chi Minh City, also said that the food industry is one of the four key industries prioritized for development in Ho Chi Minh City, accounting for 14-15% of the total industrial production value. The city's food industry has gradually shifted to in-depth development, many quality products, prestigious brands dominate the domestic market, gradually replacing imported goods and exporting to many countries around the world.

To continue to motivate the food industry, Ho Chi Minh City issued Decision No. 4700/QD-UBND dated October 23, 2024 approving the Strategy for the development of the food processing industry in Ho Chi Minh City to 2030, with a vision to 2050; along with the Plan to implement Decision No. 165/QD-TTg dated February 28, 2023 of the Prime Minister on the Project to restructure the industry and trade sector to 2030. These policies and decisions are the basis for accelerating the development of the food processing industry and expanding the scale of domestic production.

Emphasizing the role of the focal agency for organizing trade and investment promotion activities under the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, Mr. Tran Phu Lu said that the ITPC Center will continue to coordinate with the city's departments, branches, diplomatic agencies, foreign promotion organizations, city business associations, domestic industry associations and related units to continue implementing support programs for Ho Chi Minh City enterprises. Thereby, updating the latest information on export markets, introducing products, connecting trade and expanding domestic and export markets. In particular, supporting the city's enterprises to participate in the global supply chain and value chain.

According to the reporter, the products selected by businesses to display at the exhibition week are high quality, beautiful designs, competitive prices, complying with export standards and food hygiene and safety. Accordingly, each product displayed and introduced at the event is the crystallization of efforts to improve, apply technology, and be creative in production, reflecting the green - clean - organic and environmentally friendly trend. Thereby, affirming the ability to meet increasingly demanding consumer trends globally.

In particular, in the central area, visitors can admire typical Tet products and meaningful gift packages. Opposite the central area, the LED screen displays prominent brands, helping visitors, partners and international buyers easily access information and images of typical products. The scale and display method aim to create an open space for businesses to easily interact and exchange experiences.

Talking to reporters of Cong Thuong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Duc Hung - Director of Napoli Coffee Production - Trade - Import-Export Joint Stock Company (Napoli Coffee) said: Participating in this event, the company brings high-quality products, from roasted whole bean coffee to cappuccino instant coffee... to bring the best coffee experience to domestic and foreign consumers in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular.

At the same time, he hopes to have many opportunities to promote his brand and products as well as find large distributors and international partners, contributing to raising the position of Vietnamese coffee on the world map. Mr. Hung's wish is also the common wish of the businesses participating in this event.

During the Week, the Organizing Committee will organize seminars, trade connection sessions, and direct meetings with domestic and foreign distributors and partners. The highlight is the Trade Connection Conference between Vietnamese enterprises and modern distribution systems taking place on the morning of December 13, 2024. This event aims to support Vietnamese enterprises to meet and seek opportunities to expand their distribution networks, target potential markets, and contribute to enhancing the competitiveness of the food industry on the international map.
