The Vietnam Military History Museum was invested in and built by the Ministry of National Defense in 2019, covering an area of 38.6 hectares on Thang Long Avenue, in Tay Mo and Dai Mo wards, Nam Tu Liem district, Hanoi, and officially opened to visitors from November 1, 2024. The museum currently holds more than 150,000 artifacts, including 4 national treasures and many other valuable artifacts.
People experience visiting museums through digital technology
Therefore, many domestic and foreign tourists want to visit and learn more about the heroic historical process of the nation's struggle for independence. However, due to geographical conditions, health, etc., not all tourists can easily visit directly.
Based on this reality, Yoolife platform introduces for free the product of "virtualizing" the Military History Museum through the digital platform - VR360 technology. VR360 (360-degree virtual reality technology) is an audiovisual simulation of an environment surrounding the user that is changed, enhanced or replaced, allowing them to look around in all directions, just like in real life.
Users can select the areas they want to view from the entrance to the display areas and use the mouse or touch screen to rotate 360 degrees.
The tour technology immediately attracted the attention of many people, especially young people, with 10 thousand downloads of the YooLife app in the past 2 days.
Ms. Minh Lan (a student in Ho Chi Minh City) said that she had just used the app to visit the museum because she was far away and could not go to Hanoi. "For me, the history of national independence is a very proud "memory" and I always want to learn about it" - Minh Lan shared.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Tung, founder of the open digital platform YooLife, said that with the advantage of specializing in IoT solutions and having "virtualization" tools with 360-degree images, right from the time the information about the Museum was about to open to visitors, he realized that he needed to do something to let more people experience and visit the museum through digital space, and the idea was realized.
Different from other forms of expression through photos and videos, 360-degree photos help users feel the space more clearly, thereby giving a more realistic feeling.
Users can select areas they want to view from the entrance to the display areas and use the mouse or touchscreen to rotate 360 degrees.
In each area, arrows indicate directions of visit, similar to the experience of visiting a real museum, and you can click on the artifacts to see explanatory information…
Talking to Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Tung revealed the unit's upcoming plans such as expanding the online tour model through famous historical sites and monuments in Hanoi as well as the whole country through digital technology to spread the cultural and historical values of the nation.
In particular, he also wants to restore the 36 streets of Hanoi past and present through digital technology.
"These will be community projects that serve users for free with the sole purpose of helping Vietnamese people learn about national history and promote cultural and tourism development through digital tools," Mr. Tung affirmed.
In addition, this feature allows anyone to virtualize space right on their own phone. Accordingly, users just need to access the camera on the phone, select the panorama feature and capture the entire surrounding space. Then, open the Yoofife application to upload the image that has just been recorded and enter information about the museum or monument to become a detailed and complete VR360 space.
