On December 10th, Vietnam Agricultural Products Trading Company Limited (VAL), a joint venture between Bunge and Wilmar, specializing in oilseed processing and supplying food and animal feed products, officially inaugurated its second soybean oil pressing line at Phu My 1 Industrial Park, increasing its daily processing capacity by an additional 4,000 tons.
This expansion, combined with the first production line (which has been operational since 2011), brings VAL's total oil pressing capacity to 7,800 tons/day. This is a significant milestone, marking a breakthrough in VAL's journey of innovation and development and demonstrating its practical contribution to the strategy of ensuring raw material security for the country's livestock and food industries.
Located on an 11.2-hectare plot of land in a strategic industrial center, the VAL complex is considered one of the most modern facilities in the region, specifically designed to optimize efficiency and ensure superior product quality.
The complex comprises eight large-capacity storage silos with a total capacity of 120,000 tons, equipped with a fully automated temperature and humidity control system, helping to maintain freshness, stabilize nutrients, and meet optimal processing standards.

Meeting 30% of domestic animal feed needs.
With a total investment of over $100 million, the new production line is designed to leading international standards, integrating a comprehensive automation system along with real-time quality monitoring and control technology. These outstanding improvements optimize operational efficiency, save energy, ensure consistent product quality, and strictly adhere to the highest standards of safety and environmental protection.
Integrating advanced technologies from leading global suppliers, the plant is designed with a fully automated process from cleaning, shelling, and rolling to conditioning and extraction. Smart sensors combined with NIR analysis continuously monitor critical parameters, minimizing deviations and ensuring consistent product quality.
The production process is operated according to strict international standards, including HACCP, HALAL, KOSHER, ISO 22000:2018, ISO 14001:2015, FSSC version 6, and OSHA, thereby ensuring food safety, transparent traceability, and environmental responsibility.
When operating at full capacity, both oil pressing lines will process up to 2.6 million tons of soybeans and produce nearly 2 million tons of soybean meal annually, meeting approximately 30% of the domestic animal feed demand.
This expansion of production capacity will significantly boost Vietnam's animal feed industry, strengthen national food security, and support sustainable growth for the country's agricultural sector.
Over the past two decades, Vietnam's livestock industry has maintained a stable growth rate of 3-5% per year, leading to a high demand for plant-based protein sources, especially soybean meal. In a context where supply is heavily reliant on imports, the expansion of domestic soybean oil pressing plants like VAL not only helps secure a reliable supply of raw materials, offering greater flexibility and efficiency for customers, but also retains domestic added value, marking a strategic step towards national self-reliance and sustainable development of the livestock industry.
Expectations for large-scale agricultural processing projects in the region.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Nguyen Cong Vinh, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, said that the inauguration ceremony is a testament to the confidence of international investors in the strong and stable development prospects of Ho Chi Minh City. The factory is expected to become a large-scale agricultural processing project in Southeast Asia, possessing a modern production line, meeting strict environmental standards and aligning with the city's orientation towards high-tech agricultural development.
"I believe that with its favorable location and the ability to supply about 30% of the soybean meal market share for the animal feed industry, the project will play an important role in ensuring food security, minimizing supply chain risks and stabilizing prices for the livestock industry; supplementing budget revenue, creating thousands of stable jobs with high incomes, contributing to improving people's lives and promoting sustainable growth for the locality," said Mr. Nguyen Cong Vinh.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Vi, General Director of Vietnam Agricultural Products Trading Company Limited (VAL), shared that the inauguration ceremony of the second soybean oil pressing line marks an important milestone in VAL's long-term strategy to expand production capacity to meet the growing demand in both domestic and international markets.
The newly inaugurated second soybean oil pressing line also aims towards the "green growth – responsible development" goal that VAL has set from the very beginning.
This modern plant incorporates a waste heat recovery and reuse system to reduce energy consumption, a closed-loop water recirculation system to optimize resource use and minimize emissions, and continuous automation processes to minimize workplace risks.
VAL simultaneously maintains a strong safety culture through regular training programs across all production activities. By upholding three core pillars: efficiency, sustainability, and safety, VAL not only enhances production capacity but also affirms its profound responsibility towards the environment, the community, and future generations, aiming for long-term sustainable growth.
The plant is expected to produce over 500,000 tons of soybean crude oil annually, serving both domestic consumption and export needs. This enhances Vietnam's position among the leading soybean oil exporting countries in the region, providing strong access to key markets such as South Korea.
