If high blood pressure is not controlled, it can lead to complications such as heart disease and stroke. Therefore, treating high blood pressure is very important. This includes using medication, combined with diet and lifestyle changes.

One of the first preventive measures against high blood pressure is diet.

In addition to certain foods that can help lower blood pressure, certain drinks can also be helpful.

Beetroot juice helps lower high blood pressure very effectively

1. Beetroot juice. Not only is this drink packed with vitamins, minerals, and plant compounds that are beneficial to your health, it may also help lower blood pressure. A 2016 study found that beetroot juice was effective in lowering high blood pressure, especially raw beetroot juice, according to Healthline .

2. Tomato juice. There is growing evidence that drinking 1 glass (240 ml) of tomato juice per day can promote heart health. A 2019 Japanese study found that people with risk factors for heart disease who drank 1 glass of tomato juice per day had a reduction in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure, as well as “bad” cholesterol.

Recent studies have shown similar results in people with stage 1 high blood pressure and pregnant women.

Drinking pomegranate juice may help lower both systolic and diastolic blood pressure

3. Pomegranate juice. Pomegranates are not only rich in nutrients like folate and vitamin C, but they also have powerful anti-inflammatory effects. Therefore, this drink can contribute to a heart-healthy diet.

A 2023 review of 14 clinical trials found that drinking pomegranate juice may help lower both systolic and diastolic blood pressure.

4. Strawberry juice. Berries like strawberries and blueberries are known for their antioxidant properties. A 2020 review found that drinking berry juice can improve blood pressure, according to Healthline .

Another review published in the scientific journal Nature in 2016 found that berry consumption reduced both systolic blood pressure and “bad” cholesterol.

In both reviews, researchers concluded that berries may have heart-healthy benefits.

5. Skim milk. Low-fat milk and low-fat yogurt are key components of the DASH diet—a science-based recommended diet to prevent and treat high blood pressure.

According to a 2022 study, increasing low-fat dairy consumption also helped reduce systolic and diastolic blood pressure levels.

6. Tea. A 2020 review of randomized controlled trials found that long-term consumption of green or black tea reduced both systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Green tea was more effective.

Another 2019 study also supported these findings.

However, it is important to note that to reap the benefits, avoid adding sugar to these drinks. And it is important to only drink these drinks in moderation, not to overdo it, and it is best to consult your doctor before using them.
