On the morning of August 26th, Mr. Nguyen Chi Thanh, Director of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) of Ha Tinh province, announced that after a period of strenuous efforts to prevent and control the outbreak, the dengue fever outbreak in Hai Phong village, Ky Loi commune, Ky Anh town, has been successfully contained.
Previously, the first case of Dengue fever was reported on July 21st, involving patient Chu Thi H. (born in 1992, residing in Hamlet 2, Hai Phong Ward, Ky Loi Commune). Subsequently, an additional 34 cases of Dengue fever were recorded in Hamlet 2, Hai Phong Ward.
Village 2 in Hai Phong has a high population density, with frequent travel, interaction, and trade, and especially a large number of migrant workers from other provinces renting houses there. In addition, the living environment is damp, and there are still many discarded items and water containers used for daily life in households, creating favorable conditions for mosquitoes to breed and develop. The rainy, hot, and humid weather and climate also contribute to the development of dengue fever vectors in the village.
Immediately after detecting the dengue fever outbreak, the Ha Tinh Provincial CDC quickly directed the Ky Anh Town Health Center, in coordination with local Party committees, authorities, and residents, to decisively implement measures to contain and suppress the outbreak. At the same time, they continuously launched campaigns to eliminate mosquito larvae, clean the environment, overturn water containers, collect waste, and clear drainage ditches.
In addition, chemical spraying was carried out twice for 428 households in Hamlet 2, Hai Phong, and once for 435 households in Hamlet 1, Hai Phong… The medical staff also promptly transported dengue fever cases to medical facilities for treatment, preventing the spread of the disease.
Thanks to decisive measures taken by the health sector and local Party committees and authorities, after 14 days, no new cases were detected in Hai Phong village, and the dengue fever outbreak was contained and eradicated. All 35 previously infected patients have been treated and recovered.
