Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vinh Linh District, Diep Hong Cuong, said that although the People's Committee of Vinh Linh District has announced the planting schedule for the 2023-2024 winter-spring crop, in which there are regulations on rice varieties with a decision to recognize circulation. However, in the district, there are 2 farming households in Sa Trung Cooperative (Vinh Long Commune) and Don Thanh Cooperative (Vinh Hoa Commune) who arbitrarily bought rice seeds on social networks to plant on an area of 2.5 sao.

Do not buy poor quality rice seeds on social networks.

Up to now, the rice varieties that these households have planted have not yet hardened, and the rate of empty grains is high. The fact that two farming households bought poor quality rice seeds on social networks to plant not only reduces rice yield but also affects the 2024 summer-autumn crop planting schedule of Vinh Linh district.

Entering the summer-autumn crop of 2024, many organizations and individuals are taking advantage of social networking sites to advertise and sell poor quality rice seeds. Therefore, localities need to strengthen propaganda and manage seed sources well to avoid people buying poor quality seeds, affecting rice productivity, crop calendar and possibly causing and spreading diseases.
