According to the set target, the project must be basically completed by the end of 2025 to be put into commercial operation in the first half of 2026.
Many items are gradually being completed
In mid-July, Deputy Minister of Construction Pham Minh Ha signed a document from the Ministry of Construction sent to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha reporting on the implementation status of the Long Thanh Airport Project Phase 1.
Long Thanh Airport Phase 1 project has 4 component projects, including: Component Project 1, state management agency headquarters; Component Project 2, air traffic management facilities; Component Project 3, essential facilities; Component Project 4, other facilities.
According to the Ministry of Construction, for Component 1 Project, the Southern Airport Authority, Customs, Immigration Department and local police headquarters are all under construction and will be basically completed in December 2025. As for the two projects, the animal and plant quarantine headquarters, due to the slow start of construction, the investor needs to focus on implementing construction and strictly controlling the progress to complete according to the set plan.
For Component 2 Project, the important item is the air traffic control tower, which has been constructed to a height of 107.93/115m. The contractor is still continuing to construct the tower extension from the 15th floor and above. The project is expected to be completed in its entirety by September 30, 2025. Meanwhile, other items of this project are also expected to be completed in August 2025.

Component 3, the most important component of the project, the No. 1 runway, was basically completed by the end of April 2025. It is expected that this package will be completed by the end of 2025. At the same time, the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) has also broken ground and started construction of the second runway (runway No. 3) and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
As for the passenger terminal project and the project progress gantt line project, up to now, the joint venture contractor has completed the entire reinforced concrete structure of the underground part and floors 1, 2, 3, 4. The steel structure has also been completed by nearly 80% and is expected to complete the entire roof before November 30, 2025. The installation of the curtain wall is also expected to be completed in November 2025.
At Component Project 4, there are 6 important projects being invested and constructed.
Mobilize additional human resources and equipment to strengthen bid packages at risk of being behind schedule.
According to the Ministry of Construction, based on the results of the actual review, to ensure that the project is basically completed in 2025, organize calibration flights, technical flights and put into commercial operation in the first half of 2026, the unit proposed that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha direct the investors of the two delayed works in Component Project 1 to focus on organizing construction to ensure completion before December 19, 2025.
Along with that, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam urgently completed the selection of investors to implement the remaining Project of Construction and Business of Aircraft Maintenance Services (hangar) in order to soon start construction.
Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation focuses on completing the items of Project Component 2 on schedule, especially the specialized air traffic management equipment packages. At the same time, it studies and proposes a temporary power supply plan to serve the testing operation of the equipment system.
Particularly for Component 3 Project, ACV regularly organizes weekly review and updates of construction progress of construction items of the bid packages. Timely handle difficulties and problems affecting construction progress. In particular, direct contractors to have solutions to mobilize more human resources and construction equipment to increase construction activities, especially bid packages at risk of delay such as: passenger terminal; internal port traffic and technical infrastructure.
Regarding Dong Nai province, the Ministry of Construction said that the locality needs to urgently organize the identification of stone material sources for the construction of the second runway. At the same time, complete investment and construction procedures to soon deploy the construction of the fuel pipeline system for aircraft from the upstream port to the boundary of Long Thanh Airport.
Regarding the recommendations of the Ministry of Construction, Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Ha signed a document of the Provincial People's Committee to send to the Directors of the Departments of Agriculture and Environment, Construction and the Chairman of the Long Thanh Commune People's Committee on handling related contents. Accordingly, the Department of Agriculture and Environment presides over and coordinates with related units to work with ACV on handling the supply of construction stone for the second runway project and instructing the Long Thanh Commune People's Committee to complete site clearance for drainage line items.
The Department of Construction urgently completes procedures to soon deploy the construction of the aircraft fuel pipeline system from the upstream port to the boundary of Long Thanh Airport.
