Recently, Kim Chung Hoon (lead vocalist of the band Seven Dolphins), the father of actor Kim Soo Hyun, married a long-time friend.
According to The Fact (South Korea), Kim Jong-un and his second wife had been married for some time but had not held an official wedding ceremony. Therefore, on April 13th, Kim Chung-hoon held a private wedding ceremony attended by family and friends.
At the wedding, Kim Soo Hyun's father shared, "I am very grateful to her for being by my side during times when I had nothing. I always wanted to hold a wedding for her. But please remember to cover my wife's face."
According to The Face, the male lead of "Queen of Tears" did not attend the wedding. Mr. Kim Chung Hoon stated that he did not want to cause trouble for his son. However, the actor's fans still expressed dissatisfaction when information about the wedding was published in the media.
Viewers criticized Kim Soo Hyun's father for exploiting his son's fame to publicly announce his marriage.
On online forums, fans commented: "From what I know, Kim Soo Hyun's parents are divorced and he grew up living only with his mother. He's not close to his father at all. I hope his father and half-brother will stop using his name for promotion."
Agreeing with this sentiment, another account criticized Kim Chung Hoon: "This father wanted to have a small and private wedding but called the press, revealing that Kim Soo Hyun wouldn't be there."
He tried to act like he didn't want Kim Soo Hyun there. But that's not really the case. Don't ruin the drama "Queen of Tears" that's currently airing.
This isn't the first time fans have criticized Kim Soo Hyun's relatives. Previously, the actor's half-sister was accused of using her brother's fame to participate in an idol selection program.
In 2015, Juna Kim (from Produce 101) revealed that she was Kim Soo Hyun's younger sister while promoting her album "K-Drama High Society." The singer also publicly included the 1988-born star's name in her family profile.
Following Juna Kim's statement, the actor's management company, KEYEAST, released a statement confirming their family relationship. However, Kim Soo Hyun's side also noted that the two grew up completely separately, with no interaction whatsoever.
