Kim Tu Long acted alongside Hong Quyen (playing the role of Mi Chau) in the excerpt " The Love Story of Mi Chau" from the musical " Mong Phu Hoa ," the third live show of bolero singer Hong Quyen.
Kim Tu Long canceled his show to support his juniors.
Kim Tu Long told Tuoi Tre Online that he was supposed to have a show in Hanoi on this day, but because Hong Quyen earnestly invited him, he decided to cancel the show to participate in the live show as a way of supporting and encouraging his junior colleague.
He and Hong Quyen have known each other for quite a long time and have met on many shows. However, this is the first time they have performed together in a Cai Luong (Vietnamese traditional opera) act.
"Quyen confided that she wasn't familiar with the techniques and mannerisms of Cai Luong (Vietnamese traditional opera) and hoped I could help her. Previously, I had once played the character of An Duong Vuong supporting his adopted daughter Binh Tinh in the 'Stars Connecting Generations' program."

Binh Tinh is a professional actress, so she learned very quickly with me. Quyen, on the other hand, only specializes in singing bolero, so she was a bit awkward performing historical plays and had to practice many times.
"From the costumes and stage setup to the singing style, I was very nervous because I was afraid Quyen would forget something on stage, so I always prepared myself mentally to shoulder the burden for her," Kim Tu Long shared.
Until now, Kim Tu Long only heard Hong Quyen sing bolero, the first time he heard her sing reformed opera he was surprised because she did very well.

"Quyen has a good voice, she sings songs like song cuoc, ngua o Nam, vong co very smoothly. I only taught her a little bit about rhythm and how to sing properly with cai luong. Quyen caught on quickly and made me satisfied" - Kim Tu Long commented on Hong Quyen.
Playing An Duong Vuong also gave Kim Tu Long a chance to remember the role of Trong Thuy that he had previously portrayed in the grand Cai Luong play "The Swan's Dress," directed by Hoa Ha in 2008.
He said it was a beautiful memory to play the lead role in a meticulously produced, multi-million dollar play, performed at the Military Region 7 stadium alongside many renowned Cai Luong (Vietnamese traditional opera) talents. "The Swan Dress" and "Kim Van Kieu" are considered plays that have "gone down in history" of Cai Luong.

Hong Quyen remembers the cradle of reformed opera
In addition to the Love Story of Mi Chau , in the program Hong Quyen also sang a duet with her senior Trong Phuc, the performance Silkworm King .
In the opening act of the show, she sang " A Hundred Years of Brocade and Flowers" with singer Khuu Huy Vu. This song was composed by musician Tien Dat to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the song "Da Co Hoai Lang" by musician Cao Van Lau.
Da co hoai lang is the precursor for other musicians to develop into vong co, the "king song" in today's reformed opera.
Hong Quyen chose this song to open the show because she wanted to pay tribute to Bac Lieu , her hometown, and to director Ngo Quoc Khanh (author and director of the musical " Mong Phu Hoa" ). Bac Lieu is one of the cradles of traditional Vietnamese folk music and cải lương (reformed opera). It nurtured her passion and led her to discover the bolero genre.

"Fleeting Dreams" tells the story of a poor country girl's journey to the city to build a career and gradually become a star. Along this journey, there is both glamour and pitfalls; choosing the wrong path can lead to painful consequences.
On that story background, bolero songs and reformed opera performances are strung together to serve audiences who love this music genre.
Besides Kim Tu Long, Trong Phuc, and Hong Quyen, they performed plays and sang alongside singers and artists such as Xuan Hoa, Thanh Thuc, Khuu Huy Vu, Hien Trang, Thanh Ngoc, Dung Nhi, Le Nam, and the Bgirl group…
