Lanthimos is no stranger to the Cannes Film Festival. He has previously premiered films such as The Lobster and The Killing of a Sacred Deer at Cannes. However, his recent films, The Favourite and Poor Things, both premiered at the Venice Film Festival, serving as a springboard for his successful award seasons. Searchlight Pictures, the distributor of both films, announced that Kinds of Kindness will be released globally on June 21st.

Kinds of Kindness was one of the most notable premieres at the Cannes Film Festival, alongside Furiousa – a prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road directed by George Miller – and the premiere of Francis Ford Coppola's Megalopolis .
