General Secretary To Lam sent a congratulatory flower basket. Comrade Do Van Chien, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh; former President Truong Tan Sang; former National Assembly Chairmen Nguyen Sinh Hung, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan; former Standing members of the Secretariat Phan Dien, Le Hong Anh; Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long, Chairman of the National Committee for the Elderly in Vietnam; Le Minh Hoan, Party Central Committee member, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, along with many leaders and former leaders of the Party, State, ministries, branches, central organizations; generations of leaders and a large number of members of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly attended.
The program was organized in person and online at the People's Committees of provinces and cities; broadcast live on VTV1 channels of Vietnam Television, VOV2 of Voice of Vietnam and digital platforms, widely spreading the message, values and achievements of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly to people nationwide.
At the Provincial People's Committee bridge, leaders of the Provincial Elderly Association and representatives of departments, branches, military units and local Elderly Associations attended.
The speech at the ceremony, delivered by Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, President of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly, affirmed the position, role, results and outstanding achievements in 30 years of establishment and development of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly. At the same time, he emphasized that the country's renovation over the past 40 years has an important part in the contributions of the elderly, especially the leaders and former leaders of the Party and State, who are the intellectual elite of the nation.
Currently, the country has more than 7 million elderly people who are entrepreneurs, businesses, owners of production and business establishments, participating in economic development, making effective and practical contributions to the development of the country, creating jobs for about 9 million elderly people and the community; many elderly people have been honored as Labor Heroes in the renovation period. Nearly 1 million elderly people directly participate in building the grassroots political system. Many former leaders, cadres and senior civil servants (retired) have also been upholding the spirit of "old age, high aspirations", being a political support, not only promoting the role in protecting the Party's renovation policy, but also being intellectual elites in theoretical research, contributing ideas to law making and training and imparting experience to the younger generation.
Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the leaders of the Party, State and Vietnam Fatherland Front, comrade Do Van Chien affirmed the role of "old age and shining example" of the elderly and praised the results and achievements that the Vietnam Association of the Elderly at all levels has achieved in the past time.
To meet the new requirements of the country's renewal in the era of national development, the Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front requested that the Association of the Elderly at all levels continue to promote propaganda work, creating consensus among cadres and members on the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, especially the reforms of the apparatus in our country; making the Vietnam Association of the Elderly truly a bridge between the People and the Party and the State.
The Association of the Elderly at all levels must closely follow the practical situation of the country and local realities in the context of implementing the organization and apparatus arrangement from the central to local levels in the direction of streamlining, effectiveness and efficiency to perfect the organization and apparatus at all levels of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly; proactively and creatively organize social activities, patriotic emulation movements rich in the tradition of "old age, high ambition", associated with studying and following the ideology, morality and style of Ho Chi Minh, exemplary "lifelong learning", actively fostering knowledge and skills to serve digital transformation, green transformation...; continue to promote traditions, results and experiences in association building, strive to build the association at all levels increasingly strong, successfully completing the tasks assigned by the Party and the State.
On this occasion, the Vietnam Association of the Elderly was honored to receive the First Class Labor Medal awarded by the President for its outstanding achievements, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland.
