General Secretary To Lam sent a congratulatory flower arrangement. Also present were Comrade Do Van Chien, Member of the Political Bureau, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; former General Secretary Nong Duc Manh; former President Truong Tan Sang; former Chairmen of the National Assembly Nguyen Sinh Hung and Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan; former Standing Committee members of the Party Central Committee Phan Dien and Le Hong Anh; Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long, Chairman of the National Committee on the Elderly of Vietnam; Le Minh Hoan, Member of the Central Committee of the Party, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; along with many other leaders and former leaders of the Party, State, ministries, central agencies and organizations; generations of leaders and a large number of members of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly.
The program was organized both in-person and online at the People's Committees of provinces and cities; broadcast live on VTV1 of Vietnam Television, VOV2 of Vietnam Radio , and other digital platforms, widely disseminating the message, values, and achievements of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly to people nationwide.
At the provincial People's Committee's meeting point, the leaders of the Provincial Association of Elderly People, along with representatives from various departments, agencies, armed forces units, and local Associations of Elderly People, participated.
In his commemorative speech, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly, affirmed the position, role, and outstanding results and achievements of the Association of the Elderly in its 30 years of development. He also emphasized that the 40 years of national renewal have been significantly contributed to by the elderly, especially current and former leaders of the Party and State, who represent the intellectual elite of the nation.
Currently, the country has over 7 million elderly people who are entrepreneurs, business owners, and owners of production and business establishments, participating in economic development and making effective and practical contributions to national development, creating jobs for approximately 9 million elderly people and the community; many elderly people have been honored as Labor Heroes during the đổi mới (renovation) period. Nearly 1 million elderly people directly participate in building the grassroots political system. Many former leaders, officials, and elderly civil servants (who have retired) have also upheld the spirit of "the older the age, the stronger the will," serving as political pillars, not only playing a role in protecting the Party's renovation policies, but also being intellectual elites in theoretical research, contributing to lawmaking, and training and passing on experience to the younger generation.
Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the Party, State, and Vietnam Fatherland Front leaders, Comrade Do Van Chien affirmed the role of "elderly people as shining examples" of the elderly and praised the results and achievements that the Vietnam Association of Elderly People at all levels has achieved in the past.
To meet the new demands of the country's renewal process in the era of national progress, the Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front proposed that the Association of Elderly People at all levels continue to promote propaganda work, creating consensus among cadres and members regarding the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and regulations, especially the organizational reforms in our country; making the Vietnam Association of Elderly People truly a bridge between the people and the Party and the State.
The Association of Elderly People at all levels must closely follow the practical situation of the country and the local reality in the context of implementing organizational restructuring from the central to local levels towards streamlining, effectiveness, and efficiency to consolidate the organizational structure of the Vietnam Association of Elderly People at all levels; proactively and creatively organize social activities and patriotic emulation movements rich in the tradition of "the older the age, the stronger the will," associated with studying and following the thoughts, ethics, and style of Ho Chi Minh, setting an example of "lifelong learning," actively cultivating knowledge and skills to serve digital transformation and green transformation...; continue to promote the traditions, results, and experiences in building the association, striving to build increasingly strong associations at all levels, and successfully fulfilling the tasks assigned by the Party and the State.
On this occasion, the Vietnam Association of Elderly People is honored to receive the First-Class Labor Order awarded by the President of Vietnam for its exceptionally outstanding achievements in contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland.
