On September 6th, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health announced that, thanks to a spacious operating room and a newly installed set of modern endoscopic surgical equipment, the first surgery performed by surgical doctors from Binh Dan Hospital in Con Dao Special Zone was a success.
This was the case of a 36-year-old male patient who had a fever and right lower abdominal pain and was admitted for treatment at the Con Dao Military-Civilian Medical Center.
The patient underwent blood tests and an abdominal ultrasound, and was diagnosed with acute appendicitis by the doctor.
Dr. Ly Bao Duy (Binh Dan Hospital), one of the seven doctors participating in the first rotation to work in the Con Dao Special Zone, and also the doctor directly examining and diagnosing the patient, proactively reported and sought the hospital director's opinion on the indication for laparoscopic surgical intervention.
The patient immediately underwent laparoscopic appendectomy at 4 PM on September 6th. The surgery was successful, and the patient will soon be discharged to return to their daily work.
This is one of the first concrete results of the rotating team of specialist doctors working in the Con Dao Special Zone. The Department of Health respectfully acknowledges and highly appreciates the efforts of the doctors and medical staff during their first days of rotation in Con Dao.
In addition to rotating doctors to work in the Con Dao Special Zone, the health sector will soon deploy a mobile blood bank established at the Con Dao Military-Civilian Medical Center by Hung Vuong Hospital to ensure emergency care, obstetric interventions, and surgery.
In addition, Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital will be responsible for establishing the hemodialysis system, Binh Dan Hospital will be responsible for establishing standardized operating procedures for operating rooms, etc.
All procedures will be carried out collaboratively by specialist doctors under the direction and support of hospital leaders.
With the motto "Leaving no one behind, even in the most remote areas," from September 3rd to 9th, the Ho Chi Minh City health sector has sent 7 doctors from leading hospitals to work in the Con Dao Special Zone on a rotational basis.
These are highly skilled and experienced doctors from leading hospitals in the city, including Binh Dan, Nhan Dan Gia Dinh, Hung Vuong, Children's Hospital 1, Orthopedic and Trauma Hospital, and Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital.
Associate Professor Tang Chi Thuong - Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health - said that with this activity, even in geographically remote areas like Con Dao, residents and tourists will have access to professional and quality medical services. This is a practical action demonstrating a comprehensive and equitable development orientation in the field of healthcare.
