Spanning across eight districts and cities, Lang Son Geopark boasts a rich system of paleontological fossils revealing the history of life over hundreds of millions of years, with the earliest dating back 500 million years. Lang Son Geopark also features famous landscapes such as the low, undulating mountain ranges surrounding valleys and villages in Yen Thinh commune (Huu Lung district) and caves that were once inhabited by prehistoric people, such as Tham Khuyen cave (Binh Gia district)...
Currently, Lang Son province has built 3 information centers; installed explanatory signboards at heritage sites throughout the Geopark; built a network of partners consisting of service providers within the Geopark; and organized the demarcation and protection of geological and fossil heritage sites...
Mr. Dang Ngoc An, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lang Son province, affirmed that propaganda work is very important in raising awareness about the role and significance of geological heritage, cultural heritage, biodiversity, and forest ecosystems in Lang Son Geopark.
“The goal of achieving the Global Geopark title is the most important content of the Project for the establishment, construction, and development of Lang Son Geopark in the 2021-2025 period. First and foremost, it is about affirming the potential and values of international significance in geological heritage, cultural heritage, and natural landscapes... From there, we will focus on promoting and attracting investment to build tourism products commensurate with the potential and value of a Global Geopark,” said Mr. Dang Ngoc An.
