
The event, co-organized by the Economic Daily editorial office and AJU Economic (part of the AJU Media group), aims to honor businesses and individuals who have achieved outstanding accomplishments, collaborated for mutual development, and contributed to the friendship between Vietnam and South Korea. The special award recognizes businesses and individuals with exemplary contributions in areas such as investment, job creation, technological innovation, finance and infrastructure, and community activities.
According to the VNA correspondent in Seoul, in 2025, the Organizing Committee honored a total of 15 organizations and individuals, including 12 outstanding businesses and 3 exemplary individuals. Vietnamese Ambassador to South Korea Vu Ho attended the event and presented awards to the businesses.
The Korea-Vietnam Outstanding Business Award was presented to 12 companies that have achieved outstanding results in the Vietnamese market, practiced ethical management, promoted cooperative development, and effectively implemented community values, thereby contributing to enhancing the global competitiveness of Korean businesses and promoting Vietnam-Korea economic cooperation.
Specifically, the 12 honored businesses include:
1. Daewoo Construction Group (Daewoo E&C): Views Vietnam as a strategic hub for global urban development, with its flagship project being Starlake City in Hanoi .
2. Lock&Lock Group: Using Vietnam as a dual strategic base, serving as both a global production hub and a key domestic market, while simultaneously strengthening its environmentally friendly production system based on ESG (environmental, social, and governance) criteria. This criterion is used to assess the sustainable development and impact of the business on the community, helping investors and stakeholders measure the level of responsibility and long-term operational efficiency of the company, going beyond mere financial profit.
3. Lotte Group: Viewing Vietnam as a key strategic market, it has made large-scale investments such as the Eco Smart City project in Ho Chi Minh City, creating thousands of jobs.
4. Samsung Display: Operating large-scale legal entities and factories in Bac Ninh, increasing cumulative investment capital, expanding OLED production capacity, and upgrading Vietnam's advanced industrial manufacturing level through investment in the 8.6 generation IT-OLED production line.
5. Shinhan Bank Vietnam: One of the largest foreign banks, awarded as a specialized bank for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), leading the hybrid channel strategy.
6. Shinhan Securities Vietnam: Building a solid investment banking (IB) business foundation, making a strategic equity investment in FireAnt - Vietnam's largest securities information platform, and promoting digital cooperation.
7. Hana Bank Vietnam: The first Korean bank in Vietnam (since 1992). The bank is highly regarded for its long-term plan to build a comprehensive financial platform, while expanding ESG lending and sustainable finance in line with the Vietnamese government's green growth policy.
8. Korea Investment Fund Management Company (KIM Vietnam): Contributes to the Vietnamese capital market through long-term investments in key sectors such as logistics and consumer goods, connecting investors from both countries.
9. Hansae Garment Group: Positioning Vietnam as a key global garment manufacturing hub, increasing investment in automation, smart factories, and ESG standards.
10. HS Hyosung Group: Building world-class Spandex fiber and advanced industrial material production bases in Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City, developing Vietnam into a key export hub targeting Asia and Europe.
11. LS Group: Focuses on supplying power cables and ultra-high voltage cables, directly contributing to the modernization of Vietnam's power infrastructure and the stability of its power system.
12. NH Investment & Securities: Achieved tangible results by completing cross-financing transactions connecting South Korea and Vietnam, and is now expanding into the ESG finance sector.
Meanwhile, the Vietnam-Korea Friendship Award was presented to three outstanding individuals for their professional leadership, ethical management practices, and social values, making significant contributions to promoting economic and cultural cooperation between the two countries.
The three individuals honored included Mr. Vo Van Quan, Director of the Dalat XQ Embroidery Museum. Mr. Quan was recognized for organizing the annual Vietnam-Korea Friendship Festival since 2014 and for establishing the Vietnam-Korea Cultural Friendship Area within the museum, creating a symbolic space for cultural exchange.
The second person is Dr. Nguyen Thanh Dung, Vice Rector of Cuu Long University, who has promoted exchanges with many Korean universities and invited a Korean art troupe to participate in the 25th anniversary celebration of the university, laying the foundation for the shared development of future generations of both countries through academia and culture.
The third individual to receive the award is Mr. Nguyen Viet Thung, General Director of JV Link Global Joint Stock Company. Mr. Viet Thung was highly regarded for establishing a Korean culture and language training center, linking Vietnamese technical workers and students with Korean businesses and universities, becoming an important bridge in educational, recruitment, and industrial cooperation between the two countries.
The 2025 Vietnam-Korea Friendship and Outstanding Business Awards Ceremony is not only an occasion to honor outstanding contributions, but also a symbol of the strong cooperative spirit between the two countries. The efforts of businesses and individuals recognized today will continue to provide impetus for future cooperation programs. With the solid foundation already built, the Vietnam-Korea relationship promises to enter a more profound and comprehensive phase of development. This also demonstrates the importance of joint efforts from the business community and social organizations in connecting the two nations.
