The EU and the Philippines jointly oppose illegal and coercive actions in the East Sea, calling for the peaceful settlement of disputes and ensuring freedom of navigation.
At the meeting, delegates reviewed progress within the framework of bilateral security and defense dialogue, discussed the protection of maritime infrastructure and responding to threats from shadow fleets. The meeting also emphasized cooperation in maritime training, safety, environmental protection, etc.
The next meeting of the subcommittee is scheduled to take place in Manila in 2026.
