On October 27, according to initial information, the foot of Leno bridge connecting Khe Tre and Nam Dong communes, Hue city, was just washed away by floodwaters due to heavy rains for many days, leading to erosion and collapse of the bridge foot.
The incident caused a traffic disruption between the two communes. Currently, the authorities have set up barricades and banned people and vehicles from passing through to ensure safety.
Prolonged heavy rain caused floodwaters to overflow the La Son-Tuy Loan highway, passing through Hue city, causing serious landslides at the section from KM12+000 to Km14+000.
The situation caused traffic congestion, "paralysis" on the route and unsafe for people and vehicles moving on the road. At the scene of the highway, a section of the positive slope was seriously eroded, dozens of cubic meters of earth, rocks, and trees spilled onto the road surface.
Several vehicles were stuck; one car was damaged by floodwaters and had to be towed out of the danger zone.
Traffic police have set up roadblocks, placed warning signs and directed and diverted vehicles from the Cam Lo-La Son expressway to the Phu Loc intersection to go to National Highway 1.
Currently, the water level of the Huong River and the Bo River has risen above the warning level 3. The high water levels of the O Lau, Truoi, and Bu Lu rivers have flooded 32/40 communes and wards of Hue City. National Highway 1 through the communes of Phu Loc, Loc An, and Hung Loc has many deep flooded spots, hundreds of meters long, due to the rain pouring from the Bach Ma mountain range overflowing onto the road.
By 11 a.m. the same day, the entire city of Hue had evacuated 923 households with more than 2,300 people. Localities are continuing to evacuate households at risk of landslides and prolonged flooding./.
