According to Xinhua News Agency, four people have died and 23 are missing after flash floods and landslides struck Kangding city in Garze Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan province.
A natural disaster that occurred on the morning of August 3rd caused a bridge to collapse and destroyed many houses in a village. According to the local rescue agency, 16 people were hospitalized for medical treatment, and 4 have since been discharged.
The collapse of the bridge connecting the tunnels caused four vehicles to fall. Local authorities promptly launched a rescue operation following the incident. Approximately 291 firefighters were deployed, while 100 workers were sent to restore the roads. More than 930 affected residents were evacuated to safety.
The village is situated in a valley at an altitude of 1,300 meters above sea level, while the nearby mountains rise to over 5,000 meters above sea level.
