On January 26, the police of Thach Ha district, Ha Tinh province , temporarily detained Nguyen Van Tan (born in 1996, residing in Bau Don commune, Go Dau district, Tay Ninh province); Nguyen Van Thao (born in 1984) and Truong The Anh (born in 1992), both residing in Tien Hung village, Thach Hung commune, Ha Tinh city, for investigation of fraud.
Previously, the police agency received a report from Ms. VTB (born in 1994, residing in My Loc commune, Can Loc district, Ha Tinh) about two young men riding a motorbike who said they had an urgent matter that needed money to handle, and wanted to borrow 10 million VND. To gain trust, the group gave Ms. B. a phone that looked like an iPhone 15 promax, along with a purchase receipt from the Mobile World store.
This group asked to leave their phones as collateral and would return in the afternoon to pay and receive their phones.

Because she trusted the man and checked that the phone number and the code on the sales invoice matched, Ms. B. lent the two young men 10 million VND. Ms. B. kept the phone.
However, at the appointed time, the group still did not come to get the phone back. Ms. B. became suspicious and checked carefully and discovered that the product was "fake".
Using professional measures, the police quickly found the three suspects. Through searching their residence, the police seized 7 iPhone 15 promax phones, 1 Samsung Ultra23 phone and 6 sales invoices.
At the investigation agency, this group confessed that the phones and invoices used as collateral with Ms. VTB were not genuine phones but were "fake" goods purchased through social networks for 2.1 million VND.
Using similar tricks, this group successfully carried out 7 cases in Nghe An and Ha Tinh, appropriating more than 100 million VND.
Authorities are continuing to investigate and handle the case according to regulations.
