The Argentine goalkeeper is ready to join the Red Devils at the end of the summer transfer window, after agreeing personal terms last weekend.

However, the Emiliano Martinez deal failed, forcing MU to switch to a long-term deal with potential goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp.

Jadon Sancho's refusal to join Aston Villa on a long-term deal has ruined Emiliano "Dibu" Martinez's move, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

He shared with GiveMeSport: "As far as I know, the idea on United's side is to exchange permanent contracts between Jadon Sancho and Emiliano Martinez.

There is essentially no money involved, with both sides valuing each player at around £25m.

However, the swap could not go as expected because Jadon Sancho only agreed to go to Aston Villa on loan.

The English striker did not want to move to Villa Park on a long-term contract. Therefore, the exchange with Emiliano Martinez officially fell through."

Aston Villa announced a season-long loan deal for Sancho yesterday, with the club paying 80% of his £250,000-a-week wages.

The proportion of wages the central English club have to pay could increase, depending on how successful Sancho is at Villa Park.
