On the morning of February 7th, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly discussed the draft Law on Teachers. This latest revision includes a separate article stipulating prohibited actions for teachers. Specifically, it prohibits "forcing" students to participate in any form of extra tutoring, and "forcing" students to pay money or provide goods beyond what is legally permitted.
In addition to prohibiting "forced" extra classes or the payment of unauthorized fees, National Assembly representatives proposed that even in cases where parents or students "voluntarily" choose to attend, no fees should be collected. ( See details )

Lam Dong province issues ultimatum regarding Tet bonuses for teachers under Decree 73.
Speaking to Tien Phong newspaper, Chairman of the Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Tran Hong Thai said he had directed relevant units to clarify why teachers have not yet received bonuses according to Decree 73/2024/ND-CP.
According to Mr. Thai, Decree 73 stipulates many categories of beneficiaries, including teachers. Based on the proposal, the Department of Finance has instructed educational institutions to proactively use 10% of their salary savings. In his report addressing and explaining several major issues, the Chairman of the Committee on Culture and Education, Nguyen Dac Vinh, stated that some opinions supported the regulation to increase the salary by one level in the administrative and public service salary scale for teachers who are recruited and assigned a salary for the first time.
In addition, some opinions expressed concerns and disagreement with this regulation, suggesting that the policy's impact should be assessed in relation to the overall workforce of officials, civil servants, and public employees within the political system.
Taking into account the opinions of National Assembly deputies, the draft law has been revised to remove the specific provision regarding a one-step increase in salary within the administrative and public service salary scale for teachers who are recruited and assigned salaries for the first time.
